Dunk had his hand out as he touched every moonflower on his way to peak of the waterfall. the air glittered with their pollens. He breathed in the fresh mountain air when he reached his destination. The rushing water of the water from the waterfall could be heard but instead of making him nervous, he was calm. He had never felt this free, like he was finally free of his burdens.
"I hope you'll be happy, nong. Joong, ngaou mai (are you lonely, Joong)? Dunk is coming to accompany you. La gorn, P'Pond (Goodbye, P'Pond)." He rubbed his thumb against the pendant of the necklace. He opened his arms wide as he fell into the water, letting the current bring him to where he needs to go. As he was about follow the current down the waterfall, he felt a strong arm reached out to him. He was hanging at the edge of the waterfall. He wondered what had happened until he saw Pond's worried face.
"What are you doing, P'Pond? Let me go. Let me go and you'll be with nong again! Don't you want to be with him?" What Dunk said tore at Pond's heart
"Not at your expense, no! Not at all. We can be together, Dunk. We can be together like we were meant to be. Just don't let go." He held onto Dunk with all his might.
"I'm not my nong, P'Pond. I'm broken. Bpoy gu (let me go), P'Pond. Let go and you'll get nong back and I'll be with Joong. It's for the best." He wore a resigned smile. Pond shook his head when he was losing his grip on Dunk
"P'Pond, mi kwaam suk maak maak na. La gorn (P'Pond, be happy. Goodbye)" He twisted his hand and floated in the air with a smile on his face.
"DDDUUUUNNNNKKK!!!" Pond wailed. He saw Dunk disappearing before his eyes. He couldn't move. He sat there for what felt like hours, hoping that it was all a dream. He didn't know how or why he took the journey down. He didn't know why he was still hoping to find Dunk's body but to his surprise he saw Phuwin coughing and spitting out water in a distance by the river bank. He went over to him wondering if he was dreaming.
"P'Pond!" Phuwin rushed to hug him. Pond hugged Phuwin tightly, clinging onto him. He sobbed as a part of him died with Dunk. He wanted Phuwin back but not like this... not like this...
Phuwin was confused by how solemn Pond was. Everyone in the clan house turned a shade of grey when they saw him.
"Don't tell me he exchanged for him?" P'Pompam's voice quivered when he asked Pond. Pond nodded. P'Pompam would have fallen to the ground if P'Force and P'Book didn't hold onto him. Phuwin was weirded out by why everyone was sad. He couldn't understand what was going on. Pond wouldn't leave his side and made sure P'Jimmy had checked him through thoroughly. He got to know that he had missed out on months in his life. He had no idea what happened in between. He didn't know why Pond forbid him to go into his room. It was his room! It wasn't until months later when Pond was out for clan matters, was he finally able to sneak in. It looked the same, so he didn't know why he couldn't come in. Until he saw the sticky note on his composing notebook. a letter and a phone on the table.
I finished the song for you, nong
Love,
hia
Hia was here? Why didn't P'Pond tell him that he found hia?
He was even more confused when he read the letter. What truth? What existence? He was so confused by what Dunk wrote.
He switched on the phone and watched the video that Dunk left for him. He couldn't help but ran a thumb across Dunk's face. His hia... his hia was beautiful but why wasn't he here?
He teared when he heard the song. It conveyed more than what he had originally thought of. It was like his hia could read him even though they had not met since they were fledglings. But when he heard Dunk's last words, he couldn't shake the chill in his body. Pond opened the door in a panic. He turned grey when he saw Phuwin with the phone in his hand.
