The Means to War!

Chapter 14

Joey woke up from his nape as they hit another air turbulent, and he knew that he could not go back to sleep after this. He and his teammates were heading towards there destination with a bunch of other people that were not Galen's men on an aircraft. His teammates were all one side of him, and the other spots were taken up by other soldiers. He then heard breathing on his side of his neck and looked over to find Ghost looking right at him and Joey almost jumped out of his skin. Ghost then told him what he was missing out as he was sleeping and how far out, they were from the mission.

There were dozens of aircrafts in the sky right beside them as Joey was listening to Ghost. The sky was a smoky color but that was probably because they were in the air and so far, up. He then then heard noise of a jet flying over and then he also heard sound like a missile being shot into the sky from a jet. The ship right next to them got blew up halfway with the back end being blown up and men started to fall out of the hole. The aircraft that Joey was on suddenly decided to rock back and forth violently. Ghost and his team where now all awake and alert and were getting parachutes on quickly and telling the others beside them to do the same.

It was then that Joey heard that noise again and then there right ring and the wall opposite of Joey blew up creating a massive hole that sucked up one unfortunate man who did not have a pack on and he screamed as he was sucked out into the sky and to his death. He then decided that enough was enough and him and his team all jumped out of the hole that was created and so did the others. Joey then turned back around to look at the aircraft and it was a good thing that he and everyone got out even the pilots because the thing blew up as another jet came by and fired at it.

Joey then turned back to his focus of when to let his chute out. All around him there was giant bomb shells going off that reminded him of the older wars that were fought in. They must have been using the guns that were left over from that war although why they would use it was beyond him. The blast from each of the shells were trying to push him away from everyone but he was in luck because it was time to open his chute. Which he did and the sudden deceleration made Joey jerk, but it did not hurt that bad from the jarring pull upwards. He then looked at both side of him and saw that his team were not that far apart from him or the other teammates.

The firing was really disorienting and things, but Joey knew that the ground was coming closer because he could see it. What he saw was very disheartening to look at. There was a whole lot of destruction, and he could hear the people screams and the distant echo of gun fire and explosion. Joey could see through his mask eye ware that there was an abandoned town of a sort the street he was coming through was cracked and on each side of the street was several abandoned cars with there doors still left open. The houses mostly had all there doors open but some were smoldering wrecks that were once a house.

He also saw that there were people's stuff all over the place some looked like they were in a rush to get out of the town and dumped most of the stuff that they did not need for the trip out of the city. It was then that Joey and his team landed with a jarring impact unfortunately Joey heard screaming. He turned his head to the sound and saw that one of the soldiers who had yet to land was heading straight for a power line and him and his team were trying to tell him release himself quickly, but the wind blew in and hit his chute and it was over before they knew it. Joey and his team looked away as did the rest of the men when they heard the screaming and a "POP!!!" even though Joey was not looking he could still smell burnt flesh and it was nauseating.

They then heard the "THUD!!" as the dead body and the live wire both crashed down to the street below and then they finally decided to look and move the body over to the grass. Joey memorized the face and name like he did to all the men that died in this gosh darn war. He then turned around and saw that out in the distance was a huge fire that was raging from what Joey could only assume was from where the enemies decided to scare people by using force on them and setting the blaze to what looked like a couple of houses. He then refocused on his mission which was to get the civilians out of here and kill anyone who was an enemy that got in the way of his mission.
