The next day, Y/N woke up, seeing that everyone apart him, Ron and Harry had left. He shook the othe two awake, with Ron being harder to wake up than Harry, who seemed used to being woken up.

They all went down for breakfast in the Great Hall, which looked fuller than last night. The bewitched ceiling now casting a grey sky. They sat down beside Hermione who had her copy of the Voyages with Vampires book propped up against a milk jug, stiffly greeting them, "Morning,"

As the trio all got their food, Ron tried to speak to Hermione, in an attempt to get in a better mood. "So... Hermione," his voice cracked slightly when the girl raised her irritated eyes at him. "D-did you know that this is Y/N's first year at Hogwarts even though he's a Second-Year?"

"He told me about it, yeah." Hermione's voice remained stiff

"Well, I bet you didn't know the reason why he didn't attend the first year!" Ron said proudly, causing a hint of curiosity in Hermione's eyes.

"And?" She asked, her voice a little more curious than she wanted. Ron felt confident that he could make her mood better now.

"It's because he was way too smart to be a first year!" Hermione's mood soured even more at his words. "Apparently, Dumbledore heard of how smart he was and decided to hold him off a year since he was too advanced for the first year! How about that, Hermione? Someone's actually smarter than you!"

Hermione let out a tired groan at how gullible he was, "He's lying, Ronald." She told him sternly, seeming to be enough to shut the Weasley up before turning towards Y/N who was happily eating his porridge. "Lying? On your first day? Really?"

"Well, it's not really lying," Y/N told her with a cheeky smile, "they never bothered with telling me why they didn't my letter last year so I just... made my own reason."

"That's still lying, Y/N." Hermione told him sternly, to which the H/C boy shrugged at. Hermione groaned, her irritation at the trio its peak.

Then, overhead came a rushing sound. Y/N looked up, seeing a hundred or so owls steaming in, circling the hall and dropping letters and packages. Suddenly, something large and gray fell into Hermione's jug, spraying them all with milk and feathers apart from Harry.

"Errol!" Ron said as he pulled the owl out of the jug whilst Y/N and Hermione disgustingly peeled the feathers off of their wet clothes.

Errol slumped in the middle of the table, seemingly unconscious with a damp red enevelipe in his beak.

"Oh, no—" Ron gasped.

"It's all right, he's still alive." Hermione said, prodding Errol with her finger.

"It's not that—it's that!" Ron pointed at the red envelope. It looked like a normal envelope to Y/N, yet Ron continued to look at it like it was ticking time bomb.

"What's the matter?" Harry asked.

"She's—she's sent me a Howler," Ron faintly said.

Y/N looked across from Hermione, seeing the pale faces on both Ron and Neville as they continued to stare at the red envelope.

"What's a Howler?" Harry asked once more, but his question went unanswered as Neville urged Ron to open it.

Ron stretched out his shaking hand, getting the envelope from the beak of Errol. A second later, a deafening yell echoed the walls of the hall.

"—STEALING THE CAR, I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SURPRISED IF THEY'D EXPELLED YOU, YOU WAIT TILL I GET HOLD OF YOU, I DON'T SUPPOSE YOU STOPPED TO THINK WHAT YOUR FATHER AND I WENT THROUGH WHEN WE SAW IT WAS GONE—"
