"Remember," Harry said quietly as they walked cautiously forward, "any sign of movement, close your eyes right away..."

"It was an honor, by the way," Y/N said as they followed Harry. "You know, just in case we—"

Ron nudged him with his elbow, giving him a stern look. Then, a loud crunch echoed throughout the quiet tunnel. Ron slowly lifted his foot, seeing that he stepped on a rat's skull as Harry pointed his wand at him.

Harry lowered his wand even more to light up the floor, revealing that it was littered with small animal bones.

"Maybe it's full up already." Y/N muttered as they continued forward.

"Harry—there's something up there—" Ron said horsefly, grabbing Harry's shoulder.

They froze, watching, and they could just see the outline of something huge and curved, lying right across the tunnel. It wasn't moving.

"Maybe it's asleep," Harry breathed, glancing back at the other three. Lockhart's hands were pressed over his eyes.

Harry went first, very slowly edging towards the creature, his wand held high. The light slid over a gigantic snake skin, of a livid, poisonous grin, lying curled and empty across the tunnel floor. The creature that had shed it must've been twenty feet long.

"Blimey," Ron said weakly.

There was a sudden movement behind them. Lockhart knees had given away and fell back onto the floor.

"Get up," Ron said sharply, pointing his wand at Lockhart.

Then, Lockhart got to his feet and dived at Ron, knocking him down to the ground. Y/N quickly pointed his wand at him but it was too late—Lockhart was straightening up, Ron's wand in his hand and a gleaming smile back on his face.

"The adventure ends here, boys!" He said. "I shall take a bit of this skin back up to the school, tell them I was too late to save the girl, and that you three tragically lost your minds at the sight of her mangled body—say goodbye to your memories."

He raised Ron's taped wand high over his head and yelled, "Obliviate!"

The wand exploded with the force of a small bomb. Y/N flung his hands over his head as he was pushed back by the force, his back hitting against the wall of the tunnel. The next moment, he was staring at a solid wall of broken rock that had fallen in front of him.

"Y/N?" Harry hurried to his side, making Y/N relieved that he wasn't alone. "You okay?"

"Just dandy," He told him, rising to his feet. "Ron? Are you okay?"

"I'm here!" Came Ron's muffled voice from behind the rock fall. "I'm okay—this git's not, though—he got blasted by the wand—"

Ther was a loud thud and a loud "ow!" It sounded as though Ron had just kicked Lockhart in the balls.

"What now?" Ron's voice said, sounding desperate. "We can't get through—it'll take ages..."

Y/N gazed up at the tunnel ceiling, seeing the cracks that formed on it's surface. It was dangerous to try and move any of the rocks through magic, they might cause a cave in. But even if they could, they were going to waste time. Ginny was still in the Chamber.

"Wait there," Y/N called out to Ron. "We'll—me and Harry'll go on..."

"If we're not back in an hour..." Harry said, and a pause followed.

"I'll try and shift some of this rock," Ron said, who seemed to be trying to keep his voice steady. "So you can-can get back through, and by the way—"
