For a few days, the school could talk little else but the attack on Mrs. Norris. No thanks to Filch who kept pacing in the door where she had been attacked.
Ginny in particular, seemed to be very disturbed by the attack in Mrs. Norris. According to Ron, she was a great cat lover.

The attack also seemed to effect Hermione, who almost spent her entire time reading now. It wasn't unusual for her to spend some time reading, but now she was doing it like her life depended on it. But what was most unusual to both Harry and Ron, was the awkward tension between Y/N and Hermione. Of course, the two of them had always been arguing and teasing each other, but now it seemed like they couldn't even stand being in the same room as one another.

"You sure you and Hermione are okay?" Ron asked Y/N once again as he did his History of Magic homework. Professor Binns had asked them for a three-foot-long composition in 'The Medieval Assembly of European Wizards'.

"For the last time Ron, yes. Everything is fine." Y/N said irritably, doing his best to keep his voice quiet.

They were currently in the library, and Y/N was acoompanying Ron whilst he did his homework. Y/N kept himself busy by reading a book to pass the time until Harry arrived.

"I don't believe it, I'm still eight inches short..." Ron said furiously, letting go of his parchment after he measured it. "And Hermione's done four feet seven inches and her writing's tiny."

Harry and Ron glanced at Y/N at the mention of Hermione's name. "Where is she?" Harry asked quietly, as if not wanting Y/N to hear.

"Somewhere over there." Ron said, pointing along the shelves. "I think she's trying to read the whole library before Christmas."

Harry and Ron talked for a bit whilst Y/N boredly flipped through the pages of the book he was reading until Hermione emerged from between the bookshelves, she liked irritable and at least seemed ready to talk to them.

Almost all of them at least. Y/N glanced at Hermione who didn't bat an eye at him as she went over to Harry and Ron.

"All the copies of Hogwarts: A History have been taken out." She said, sitting beside them. "And there's a two-week waiting list. I wish I hadn't left my copy at home, but I couldn't fit it in my trunk with all of Lockhart's books."

"His books were probably as inflated by his ego." Y/N said jokingly. Ron and Harry laughed while Hermione ignored him.

"I wanted to read up on the legend of the Chamber of Secrets." She informed them.

"What's that?" Harry said quickly.

"That's just it. I can't remember." Hermione said, biting her lip. "And I can't find the story anywhere else—"

"Hermione, let me read your composition." Ron said desperately, checking his watch.

"No, I won't," Hermione said severely, "You've had ten days to finish it—"

"I just need another two inches, come on—"

The bell rang. Y/N quickly put the book he was reading back before rushing back to Harry and Ron who patiently waited for him by the table while Hermione seemed to be only waiting there for Ron and Harry.

The four of them walked over to the History of Magic classroom, Harry and Ron both not being able to talk due to the tense atmosphere between Hermione and Y/N.

History of Magic though, had a duller atmosphere than any other subject. The only interesting to Y/N was Professor Binns, the only Professor who was a ghost. Half an hour passed, with everyone in class in a deep stupor and only writing down names and dates occasionally. Then, something happened that never happened before. Someone raised their hand.
