(( Alexanders POV ))
Alexander yawned as he'd rub his eyes by now he'd hear a knock at his front door realising it was his father at the door. Today was the day when Alexander and William would be surfing together.
(( William and Alexander's POV ))
Alexander's apartment would have a surfboard in the main living room hanging up. It was hung up horizontally and was his mother's old long board. The board was a Malibu 9'0 foot wooden board it had a chunk of it on the back where the fin used to be but since the fin was removed due to it being damaged the line where the fin originally stayed was still there.
William scanned the room noticing the surf board before he'd think for a moment pondering why Alexander had the surfboard after all those years. That's when it hit william, that surfboard meant more then the story behind it after all it was one of boards that William made Angela as a wedding present. This board was made to say Angela was now apart of the Peters family.
William would look at his Alexander knowing he knew the story behind that board before he'd sigh, " Alexander? Why do you still have that surfboard after all those years? You know it's bad luck right" Alexander would roll his eyes at his father. " William.., just don't. I'm not having this conversation with you. " William would nod as he'd signal Alexander to follow him to his car.
Williams car was an original holden sandman panelvan. The colour was burnt sienna with hints of rust within the layers of paint. The interior was leather partly ripped yet still roadworthy to drive. The front windscreen had small cracks in it but it wasn't at worse as the back passenger seat window frames. No glass, no window just the frame that's all safe to say the front driver and passenger seat is your safest bet.
Inside the car it smelt like Tobacco, even more specific it smelt like freshly lit cigarettes. Alexander saw the boards in the back part of the car. He noticed his father had a two short boards strange for someone who doesn't surf big swell as often. Alexander was confused but thought nothing it.
When Alexander and William got into the car he noticed that the ashtray in the centre console had ash that would light up in flickers every now and then. William would press on the play button on the radio, the song that would come on would be ' Where'd all the time go '. Alexander noticed William humming the tune since this song brings memories of when Alexander was still at his father's beach shack.
During the car trip a cigarette would be rolled by Alexander, for later on if needed. By the time they drove the radio flicked through songs such as, 'where'd all the time go'- dr dog. , 'drinks n cigars- ocean alley ' and 'confidence- ocean alley '.
William noticed how his son was acting towards him realising how bad his relationship between his son and him really was. William had drove past the main beach. Alexander became confused looking around as he'd realise where he was going. The place that Alexander learned to surf at, the place Alexander grew up at and the place Alexander last saw his mother surfing at on her longboard that was up in Alexander's home. ' Shelly beach ' or known as the place with the worst rips yet somehow it was the most peaceful place to surf.
William would then park the panelvan on the shoreline since the beach was out on low tide. By now Alexander would head to the back of the panelvan looking at the surfboards. William would already be around the back of the car when he looked at Alexander. " Take your pick kid. One of them is a 6 foot fibreglass three fin board, the other is a 5'8 fibreglass two finned fish board. " Alexander would look at the boards as the 5'8 would stick out to him that's when he realised that his first surfing accident was on that board. Alexander would grab the 5'8 looking over to his dad. " Uh.. thanks." William would nod as he'd grab the 6 foot on the other hand.
