Abby's POV
Flowers, Flowers, Flowers.
God, that was such a beautiful last name.
Brandon Flowers, Brandon Flowers, Brandon Flowers.
God, he was such a beautiful boy.
"Abby, can I have your phone number?" Brandon asked shyly as we walked to our buses.
His cheeks were rosy, as if he was embarrassed to ask this. I wanted to rub my nose on his cheeks-wait-that's not acceptable, I don't think.
"Sure!" I exclaimed. My parents didn't care if I used the phone, they didn't care about anything I did.
I grabbed a loose piece of paper from my backpack with a pencil and quickly scribbled my phone number on it. I handed it to him with shaky hands.
I was beyond surprised when his face lit up, "thank you!"
He was so cute.
Brandon's POV
"Mom, can I please use the phone?" I asked directly after dinner as she washed the dishes. I had Abby's phone number in my back pocket.
"Sure," she shrugged.
I giddily snatched the phone and dialed Abby's number. I had never called a girl before, in fact, I don't think I've ever called anyone besides Dave, Ronnie or Mark.
"Hello?" A gruff voice answered.
"Yes, uh, can I talk to Abby please?" I squeaked.
"Oh, um, sure," the voice sounded surprised.
There was a short moment of silence, which caused me to twirl with the phone chord in anticipation.
Abby's POV
My dad burst into my room, "a boy's asking for you on the phone."
I basically threw my drawing pad to the side in surprise. "Uh, okay," I shaked.
He handed me the phone and left my room, slamming the door behind him.
"Hello? Who is this?" I muttered.
"Hi Abby! It's Brandon!"
I automatically wanted to curl up in a ball and squeal until death because even though I couldn't see him, I knew he was smiling and I liked his smile so much.
"Hi Brandon," I breathed.
He giggled, "hi Abby."
I bit my lip, not sure what to say, so I said, "hi Brandon," again.
And he had the nerve to reply with, "hi Abby," again.
"Hi Brandon Flowers," I smiled, feeling absolutely ridiculous.
"Hi Abigail- wait, what's your last name?"
"It's-it's-" I sighed, "it's Rose."
"Oh my gosh!" He basically yelled, "you gave me crap because my last name is Flowers, but your last name is actually a type of flower? Oh my gosh!"
"Hey, I never gave you crap about your last name, I think your last name is lovely!"
There you go, now you've done it.
There was a long pause before Brandon sheepishly whispered in a barely audible squeak, "you do?"
I licked my lips, "I do."
"Well then, hi Abigail Rose."
I loved my name rolling off his tongue. I loved the thought of my name in his head.
