Chapter 16: War Wages On

As the sunlight began to fade to bring night to our sky, I sat on the balcony while enjoying some snacks the people who worshipped Mothra brought me. It was sliced apples with some other fruits that blended well together. I looked towards the mountains as the moon in the background gave it a wallpaper-esque scenery.

Y/n: "Hey, what do you think?"

I grab Shin's attention as I pick up another slice.

Y/n: "I'm sure you like it here since your mother is around and a lot of people know you. I'm sure you'll be happy here"

Despite not really having a voice, I could sense his emotions and pick out what he's trying to say.

Y/n: "I know. I can't keep my friends here, but I wouldn't mind coming over on the weekends. I'll even bring Serafall to meet Mothra"

He seems fond of the idea.

Y/n: "However, I must stay vigilant. I have big sis Tsubaki to take care of too. We must be a good brother and spend time with her as well"

There was a slight pause before Shin nodded in agreement.

Y/n: "Good. Now-"

He felt someone nearby which tensed me up instantly.

Y/n: "From above-!!"

Kuroka: "Nya~!!"

Kuroka dropped from the top balcony onto my lap which caught me off guard for a second.

Y/n: "K-Kuroka?!"

Kuroka: "How's my little cinnamon of a Kaiju doing~?"

She buried my face into her chest for a hug ad I felt my connection with Shin cut.

"You abandon me?!"

Kuroka: "I see that you were eating. Here, let this big sister of yours feed you"

Y/n: "Big sis- Oomph"

I'm fed one of the slices which oddly, felt nice.. Wait, am I enjoying being pampered by a older woman whom Shin or I are not related to?

Kuroka: "What's wrong?"

Y/n: "Isn't this.. a little odd. You're on.. my lap"

Kuroka: "It's fine. You're cute as always now let me feed you"

I take another bite of the apple slices as the thought runs through my head. This has been the most amount of attention I've received since spawning Shin. I don't particularly mean in just Kuroka, but in general since arriving in Kuoh. I have Tsubaki as a sister, Serafall and Sona who takes care of me, my best friend is Issei and his friends are mine as well.

Kuroka: "At a boy, you're smiling now"

Kuroka adopted me as a brother as well I think and I've met Mothra now. Suddenly, I get the realization that I'm not lonely anymore. These people, they shower me with love and affection. Shin doesn't seem to be bothered either which I'm happy about. Life is good.

Tsubaki: "Oi!!"

At that moment, Tsubaki and Koneko arrive to pull Kuroka off of me. I'm a little sad by it for some reason but I am a boy after all.

Tsubaki: "Why are you on my brother's lap?!"

Kuroka: "OUR brother!!"

Tsubaki: "OUR?!"

Koneko: "Brother?!"

The argument was taking place without my inclusion besides my name. I was unsure of what to say or do though.
