Once upon a time, in a magical kingdom called Jesteria, there was a magical crystal called the Prism.
Thousands of years ago, this Prism created lush lands, filled it with all the colors of the rainbow.
It also created the first woman, a woman named Loray.
Loray was given the powers of the Prism, as the first woman, and she decided to make herself a family, giving herself a husband.
As time passed, Loray had children with her husband, as she used this power to create a community.
Her eldest daughter, Titania was given the powers of the Prism as the firstborn, and thus, the tradition of the firstborn daughter of the queen gaining the unbound powers of the Prism was born.
Time would pass, and the prism would be passed from daughter to daughter, as the kingdom grew grander, evolving with the times, becoming a futuristic kingdom.
As the time went on however, people all over the kingdom would attempt to steal the Prism, but if one doesn't possess the power of the Prism, it gives you a curse instead, fueling your hatred and desire for power, until you ultimately die of madness.
One such Queen had such a heart of pure intentions, that she decided to hide the Prism away, vowing never to use it unless an emergency, just to keep her people alive, and thus the Prism began to fade into legend to the people of the kingdom, while the queens and princesses knew of the truth.
It was a time of peace, and the peace would last for years, never needing to use the Prism.
To hide their history, the Prism was removed from history books, with the books now claiming the first queen was a god, who made this kingdom, and the people of Jesteria would worship this entity.
Times however would change when Queen Periwinnie gave birth to two daughters.
Sable was the first. She was a chipper young girl with ebony hair, who wore dark clothing. She would be thrust into the lessons of being a queen at a young age, taught about the Prism and all the powers she would someday wield.
But, she wasn't the only daughter.
Princess Evaline was born two years after her sister, and she was an unpleasant but beautiful child, with bright golden hair.
She wanted to be queen, for the power. She adored commanding people around, and got everything she ever wanted.
One day, when Sable was twelve and Evaline was ten, she decided to follow her mother and Sable into the forbidden wing of the palace.
Hiding behind the pearlescent pillars of the long winding hallway, she heard her mother speak to her sister."We've always told the people of the kingdom about Queen Loray, and how she created our world..." The Queen looked down to her young daughter. "But that was to hide the secret of our family." The queen, wearing a soft blue gown, raised her slender hands into the air, a rainbow of colors coming from her hands.
Red light flashed, as the Queen transformed into a fluffy white fox, her tail curling around Sable, before the light consumed the queen, returning her to her human form.
Orange light swirled around the Queen's palms, as she cast a flame into the skies, the flames illuminating Sable's amazed face.
Yellow starlight swirled around the two, causing Sable to giggle, before it faded into green, vines and flowers twisting around the hallway.
A chill of blue flooded in, as the queen made an ocean wave, before freezing it, and melting it into steam.
A darkness fell over the two, before the Queen put her hands together, everything turning back to normal."Mother, what was that?" Sable asked, grinning at her mother, who put a white glove over her own hands.
"The powers of the Prism." The Queen said softly. "The true origin of us all."
"Of us all?" Sable echoed, holding her own hands out, causing her mother to smile.
"The firstborn child of each queen inherits the power." The Queen explained, leading Sable down the hall.
Evaline, who watched it all, stared in a silent and jealous rage. "The first born." She said to herself, frowning. "Which means, not me."Waiting in the hallway, Evaline sat on the cold floor, writing furiously in her journal, until she heard the excited voice of her sister coming back down the hall. It had to have been a few hours at the very least, her rumbling stomach begging for the princess to leave and find a pastry.
"We should go find Evaline, and take a trip into the village." The Queen spoke, unaware of the disaster ahead of her.
As the Queen and Sable passed, Evaline darted down the hall, her heart pounding as she heard the whispers of the Prism, beckoning her towards the large silver door, putting space between the small girl and her prize.
