Diana and Sable arrived to the college campus around an hour before Diana's first class.
"So, what exactly do you call this human establishment?" Sable asked, her crimson red eyes jumping from person to person, who paid no mind to the new student.
"It's a college." Diana said calmly, as she walked into the building, Sable tailing behind her. "It's like a school for people who want to push themselves into a specific career."
Diana was quiet as she weaved between people, leading Sable to an area of the building where it was meant for students to focus and do some schoolwork, or just socialize. Diana sat down on one of the various brown plush couches and got to work, taking out her violet laptop and got into her homework, leaving Sable to stare around with boredom.
"I thought you were supposed to meet that Robin girl?" Sable said, in a somewhat loud voice, getting shushed by Diana.
"I am." Diana said, narrowing her eyes. "Just getting ready. A lot is riding on making a good impression, and I don't want to screw up."
"Don't you know this girl already?" Sable asked, poking her head over to Diana's laptop, scanning the screen. "How to talk to girls..." Sable read out loud, looking to Diana, before a grin grew on her lips.
"I'm just doing some research, okay? " Diana said, quickly closing the tab and shooting Sable a warning look.
"You totally have a thing for her, don't you?" Sable clapped her hands. "This is perfect!"
Diana rolled her eyes before conceding, "Fine, maybe I like her a little." She twirled her fingers around a white strand of her hair.
She didn't like Robin just a little. Diana had a different approach to love than normal. She had dated once in middle school but it felt one sided, but this crush she had on Robin felt REAL.
Sable couldn't help but tease Diana a little more, "So, when's the wedding?"
Diana was jolted out of her daydream, shooting Sable another glare. As the two girls waited, Diana had given Sable her laptop, and Sable amazingly scrolled the web.
"We have something similar to this back where I'm from." Sable remarked, gliding her fingers across the keyboard. "We call it the Jestanet."
Diana wasn't listening to anything Sable was saying, her eyes glued to the archway that led into the study area.
She spotted Robin walking in, a smile lighting up her face as she quickly excused herself to go talk to her, leaving Sable with the computer.Robin Wang was a girl of chinese descent, with shiny hair the color of denim. She was curvy, and was wearing a blush pink sweater atop a baby blue plaid miniskirt. She was walking in, her ocean eyes locking with Diana's, causing Diana's heart to flutter.
As Robin approached, Diana's palms began to sweat, her mind racing with the perfect words to say.
"Hey!" Diana said, trying to lift the tone of her voice from monotone to eager, smiling with her lips closed at the girl.
"Hi, Diana," Robin replied, her smile radiant as she greeted her friend.
"So, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?" Diana asked, hoping Robin wouldn't see Sable sitting behind them.
"Um, it's nothing major," Robin reassured Diana, glancing at Sable with curiosity before returning her attention to Diana. "My father said I could invite a few friends to the mansion for a garden party." Robin's eyes darted away, her pink painted lips turning into a frown.
Diana's mind raced with excitement as she envisioned the elegant gardens and all the possibilities for the upcoming party.
"Are you inviting me?" Diana asked, her lips curling up excitedly.
"Of course, Diana," Robin said with a smile, "I'd love for you to come.
Diana was excited, she didn't know that Robin had even considered her a friend, she always thought it was more acquaintances. The two had formerly met during a music class at their current community college, with Diana studying music theory, while Robin studied theater.
They had also been in some other classes, one of which involved Diana going to Robin's house.
The girls had instantly connected, both drawn to the arts and sharing a passion for creativity.
The best part in Diana's opinion, was the large assortment of pride related things in Robin's large bedroom.
Being bisexual herself, Diana had instantly connected to Robin, who had a lesbian flag plastered to her wall.
Robin was also famously known at the college to be a loud and proud lesbian, but people also thought of her as a mean girl.
Diana, on the other hand, saw her as a kind and caring soul behind the tough exterior, and craved to learn more about her.Diana smiled at Robin, her cheeks soft and warm from her rosy blush.
"So, who all will be there?" Diana then asked, causing Robin's eyes to widen in slight panic.
"Well, actually..." Robin glanced away. "I don't know entirely. I can't decide to invite." Robin pursed her lips together. "My father wants a lot of guests, but I don't know a lot of people."
Diana reached out and gently placed her hand on Robin's arm, offering her a reassuring smile. "It's okay. If it's just us there, that's fine too."
Diana didn't realize what she said until it was too late, and her cheeks reddened, her eyes going wide.
"Oh, coming onto me?" Robin said, her tone shifting into a flirtatious voice. Robin flashed a mischievous grin.
"Awkward!" Sable called through cupped hands, finally making her grand appearance. She had closed the laptop and skipped over to the two girls, her presence filling the air with energy.
"And you are?" Robin said, her tone shifting into a cold and mean one, giving the girl a look up and down.
"Oh, forgive me, where are my manners? " Sable responded with a sly smile, before leading into a curtsy. "I am Queen Sabelina Jesteria, but everyone calls me Sable."
"A queen?" Robin's eyes narrowed, glancing to Diana.
"Ignore her, this is my..." Diana glanced around quickly, taking a deep breath. "This is my... cousin!"
Sable's eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly composed herself and played along. "Yep! Me and Diana go WAYYYY back."
Robin looked from Diana to Sable, suspicion still lingering in her eyes.
"Anyways, maybe Sable can come to the party?" Diana asked, biting her lip.
"I guess." Robin said, exasperated. "I suppose I'll just invite everyone from each of my classes."Diana and Robin sat together on one of the plush sofas in the college commons, with Robin hunched over her cell phone.
"So... that should be the last person." She said, exasperated, turning off her phone and turning to Diana.
"That was quite the guest list, Robin," Diana said, glancing over at the sheer number of people she had invited. "Are you sure your parents are okay with this many people?"
"Yeah, it's whatever." Robin shrugged. "Father is out of town on business, and my mother is back in LA filming." Robin glanced away, looking saddened.
"So." Diana began, unaware of Robin's sadness. "What's the dress code?"
"Anything goes, really," Robin replied, forcing a smile. "I have a super cute outfit."
"I can't wait to see it," Diana said, smiling.
The two gazed at each other for a moment, before being interrupted by Sable, coughing loudly at the two girls.
"Hey Diana, not to worry you, but your phone keeps notifying that you have class now." Sable was holding Diana's phone, being given it as a distraction so she wouldn't interfere with the two girls.
"Shit!" Diana gasped, closing her laptop, and shoving her things into her backpack. "I'm sorry Robin, I'll see you at the party tonight!"
She began to speed walk towards the entrance, Sable close behind her.
"So where do I go?" Sable asked, glancing to Diana, who was focused on getting to class.
"I don't know, go back to my house." Diana said, shooing her away. "Use your powers or something."
Sable nodded, saluting the girl.
"Good luck! I'll hold down the fort!" She transformed into a bird, fluttering away.
Diana sighed, as she arrived to her class.
