The next few months passed by in an instant, and it was the start of UAAP season. Throughout the past 2 months, you and Detdet saw each other almost every day, on campus and off. She wasn’t going to lie about how she would secretly memorize your schedule every day to know what time you went to classes or when your break would be— and miraculously she would suddenly show up and ask you to eat lunch with her off-campus.

Detdet herself didn’t even know what she was doing. She had never done this to anyone before, she was used to being the one being pursued and not being the pursuer. What shocks her the most is the fact that this is her first time feeling such a strong feeling towards a girl.

Now, Detdet lies in bed, staring at her phone that is ringing and the contact is named ‘bestea 🐶’. She waits for a couple of seconds before the phone is finally picked up, and her long-time friend is on the other side of the phone. “Wassup kapitana!” Bella yelled through the phone— she was on her desk, a blanket covering her body.

Detdet greets back, “Hi doggy ko, na-miss moko noh?” She watches as Bella side-eyes her and rolls her eyes. “Edi wag, tangina mo.”

Bella bursts out laughing, “Bilis magtampo, amputek. Anyways, ano kailangan mo, ‘accla?”

“Di ko rin alam kung bakit ako tumawag, ano kasi— MALAY KO DIN BEL SHET!” Detdet groans, shouting at her pillow. Bella stares at her weirdly, her face turning into a grimace at what her best friend is doing. Eto ba nangyayari pag naging captain ka ng volleyball team?

“Baliw kaba ‘te? Sabihin mo sakin sino nanggugulo sa’yo, ipapaantay ko mga beshycakes ko sa labas ng campus nyo.”

Detdet hurriedly shakes her head, a blush spreading on her cheeks as she tries to find a way to tell Bella that she MIGHT’ve possibly fallen for one of her freshman teammates. It takes Bella a couple of seconds to register what is going through her mind before she realizes the familiar reaction that Detdet is showing and emits a loud gasp. “HOY PUTANGINA MO MAY CRUSH KA BA?!” She squeals, excitedly.

“Pukinang-inina mo! ‘Teka lang! Let me explain my side— wow, englishera me.” Detdet humors, placing a hand on her mouth as she laughs at her speaking English.

“Bilisan mo nga! Ngayon ko lang uli nakita yung pisngi mo na kasing pula ng hotdog. Pogi ba yan? Or like mutual friend ba natin!?”

Detdet sighs, rubbing her face. “Manahimik ka nga, kitikiti naman neto.” Bella hurriedly pretends to zip her mouth, a smile on her face. “Walang reaksyon muna ah. Tsaka I’m not sure pa if 100% legit ‘tong feelings ko.” Her best friend gives her a thumbs-up in reply.

“OKAY! Eto na nga beshycakes ko. Parang last month sya nagsimula nung sabay kami kumain sa isang place, TAS LIKE?! Malay ko— napabilis tibok ng puso ko sakanya tas parang everyday hinahanap hanap ko sya, tas ang cute nya pa beh! Pag naglalaro kami grabe talaga focus face nya, parang like— Greek Godess vibes!” Detdet rambled, zoning out, not noticing the reaction that Bella was having right now.

A squeal breaks Detdet out of her trance and she looks at her phone strangely. “TANGINA MOOO! BABAE SYA?!” Detdet recoils in shock, wondering how Bella quickly figured out it was a female she was talking about.

“Teka lang— Teka lang, pano mo nalaman?”

Bella slaps her face in reply, “Tanga kaba, sinabi mo Greek Goddess, hindi Greek God.” Detdet mumbles an ‘Ahh..’ in reply at her stupidness. Eto ba nangyayari pag inlove? Eh tangeks, baka pampalipas lang to ng oras.

“Ano ba naman to Badet, ang tanga mo talaga pag-inlove minsan. ‘Onti nalang ibabalik kita sa jejemon days natin.”

“Nyenyenye— Hoy, pag eto kinalat mo sasabunutan kita sa labas ng bahay nyo. Tsaka like, di ko din kasi alam gagawin ko! Like palagi kami nagtitigan tuwing nagkikita kami tas ngingiti-ngiti pa sya sakin. Nagmumukha talaga akong tanga pag malapit sya eh.”
