Akin ka nalang, P2

When you woke up in the morning, Cassie had already been long awake. Her side of the bed was tidy and she had left the room. It was unusual for Cassie to leave without saying anything, but maybe she had already woken you up ages ago and you fell back to sleep.

You brushed your hair before going downstairs to the hotel's buffet. The place was already bustling with people as they grabbed food, your eye spotted your two friends dining with each other, Cassie had this distant look as she conversed with Regina.

“Teka lang Cass, andyan si Y/n.” Regina mumbled as she waved you over. She gives you a smile and you approach them back. “Halatang kakagising lang neto.”

You roll your eyes, making your way to Cassie's side of the table before Regina stops you, “Te, dito ka sakin. Dyan di Xyza, nasa CR.” Cassie had her eyes glued on her phone as she scrolled while eating, barely mumbling a word to you.

“Agang aga naman, ingay na agad ng paligid. Anyways, morning Cass.” You greet with a smile, she only hums in acknowledgement, baffling you. Ano meron dito? May ginawa ba ako kagabi? You sit there in silence, staring at Cassie.

Regina coughs, nudging you. “Pagod lang yan ‘te. Pagbigyan mo na, kahit ngayon lang.” You hesitantly nod, taking your eyes off her. Cassie continues to ignore both of your looks, shoving a muffin in her mouth.

“Ah… sige. Sunod na lang ako kay Xyza, kuha lang ‘rin ako pagkain.”

After the buffet, you had planned on going ATV riding. Cassie had still been acting weird, almost as if she had no energy for you. She had been acting normal to Xyza and Regina except to you, giving short responses and could barely look you in the eye.

“Ano meron kay Cassie?” You whispered to Xyza as you helped her get down from the ATV. Xyza looked at Cassie who had her back turned around and was talking to the local tour guide.

“Hmm? Malay ko duon. Hayaan mo nalang muna, pagod na pagod yan kanina pang umaga eh.” Xyza responds, you stand rooted to your spot as you watch Cassie laugh at Regina who had just fallen on the ground.

You weren't stupid. You could tell if someone was ignoring you, and Cassie was ignoring you. Xyza and Regina had to make better stories if they wanted you to believe them. Your eyes narrow at Xyza who has an awkward smile and slowly backs up with her hands up.

“Xyza,” You walk towards her, slinging your arm around her shoulder, locking her in place. “Di naman ako bulag. Ano ba yung totoo?”

She shook her head, groaning. “Tangeks, bawal ko kasi sabihin dito. Baka marinig ako ni Cassie tas mamayang gabi putol na ulo ko.” Reluctantly, you let go of the girl. You didn’t want her getting in trouble with Cassie. “Pero ano, um. Basta tungkol sayo.”

“Ha? Ano meaning nun gaga?” You sigh and Xyza only zips her mouth, shrugging. Ano ba naman to, parang nag-sosolve ako ng puzzle. Your phone suddenly buzzed with a notification, grabbing the attention of Xyza. You turn around to Xyza, “Mauna kana, Xy. May nagcha-chat sakin.”

Xyza does not like to meddle in business that is not hers. She respects privacy above all things, but right now, her curiosity is getting the best of her— after what Cassie found out last night. “Ha, antayin nalang kita. Goods naman sakin.” You nod, grabbing your phone and Xyza slowly approaches ur back, tiptoeing over your shoulder and she sees the contact. Patty.
