To say I was mad at Jax during this capture the flag game is a huge understatement. The whole time he was trying to trip me up and then blame ME when our flag was stolen. So lo and behold, Zooble, Kinger, and Gangle won that game. Luckily Ragatha and Pomni never blamed me for losing, but Jax did. Even though HE was the one sabotaging me constantly.
"I thought you were better at games," Jax taunted. "First we completely lost in the first game yesterday, and now this one. It's very pathetic."
"Oh shut up. It's not like you were helping much. You're just as much at fault as I am," I tell him as I start walking back to my room. But Jax couldn't take 'no' for the life of him, since he easily caught up with me.
"Are you trying to run away from me?" Jax chuckled. "How cute."
"Oh, f*beep* off!" I yelled and I tried walking faster. But because of Jax's long legs, he didn't even need to try to catch up with me.
"You're awful at running," He teased with his usual smirk.
"I'm not even trying to run. I'm just speeding up, dumb*beep*"
Eventually I made it to my room. Before I turned the doorknob to let myself in, Jax grabbed my arm. I glared at him as I peered over my shoulder. "What is it?"
"You're not THAT mad at me, are you?" Jax wondered, a slight hint of curiosity spiking in his voice.
"I think it's obvious if I'm mad at you or not," I spit out as I opened my bedroom door and slammed it in his face. I groaned in annoyance as I slid down to the floor, my back pressed against the door. I stared off into my f/c themed room, feeling a newfound sense of dread. It wasn't in my nature to be a bitch constantly, so I did feel bad for how I treated Jax today, but he's the one that started, right?
I shouldn't feel bad. I really shouldn't. He deserved it and should've seen it coming from a mile away when he screwed around with me. So maybe it's meant to be. Maybe we're meant to be enemies. Yet...why do I feel so awful? Whatever, he's not worth my time.
I got up from the ground and sat on my bed, trying to figure out what I should do now. I have the rest of the day to do whatever I want until tomorrow, where we'll probably do another game per Caine's request. Though, these games are getting pretty annoying in my opinion. Sometimes I would prefer to have a day to myself.
To be honest, I don't know how much time has passed but eventually there was a loud knock on my door. I decided to not answer it, since I kinda figured who it was. After a while, my doorknob jiggled a bit and then opened. Jax was there, holding a yellow key. How the FUCK did he get a KEY to my ROOM?!
I must've stared at him long enough since he started laughing.
"What? Are you shocked that I can open your room? I have keys everywhere," Jax chuckled as he closed the door behind him.
"I feel like that isn't a good thing..."
Jax strolled over and sat at the end of my bed. "Ohh come on, have more faith in me. I haven't done anything to you yet."
"Sure, but the key word is yet. What do you want, anyways? You didn't just come here to bug me, did you?"
"Whaaaat? Of course...not. I just wanted to talk...is that so harmful?"
"If it's you, then yes, it is pretty harmful."
Jax rolled his eyes. "Stop being such a drama queen. I'm not actually hurting you. Geez, maybe you should grow thicker skin or something."
"Thicker skin? How can I do that when I'm trapped in this hellhole?" I scowled, crossing my arms.
"Just have some fun, of course...it takes your mind off of everything. I would know, I've been here for years." There was a hint of sorrow in his voice while he spoke, but whatever emotions he seemed to be feeling, he tried his best to not let it show.
"Fun...?" I repeated. "How can we have fun when we're waiting for our impending abstraction?"
"It's called 'getting our mind off of it.' Y/N, with that attitude you might be the next to abstract," Jax sighed. Instead of his usual grin, he seemed to be...frowning? "Follow me."
Jax got up from my bed and without a word I decided to follow him. There's no reason I shouldn't, but I am keeping my eye out, in case Jax is trolling me or is preparing to prank me in a certain way. I followed Jax out of the tent and outside.
"Why are we outside?" I wondered as Jax looked up at the sky. The sky was a deep blue and it was scattered with stars. It honestly looked really pretty.
"Just look at the world around you, and you tell me," Jax replied with his usual smirk. So that's what I did. I looked around the space around me, just like I was told. There was an amusement park in the distance, that was lighted up and looked alive; even if there was nobody at the park. There was a water park that all I saw was the silhouette of the slides, but it still looked pretty. Lastly, the sky. It was an assortment of colors, from blues to blacks with yellow stars in the sky that seemed to be calling out to me.
"You told me to come out here...because it's pretty?" I wondered while staring up at the sky.
"Not just how pretty it looks, but the beauty in the world around us. The world that Caine made, though it's imperfect, is still pretty. And maybe just looking at the stars--like you're doing--can help you relax a bit, knowing that there's still stars in the sky, entertainment to have, and grass on the ground. Ya know?"
I continued staring at the sky, a slight smile spreading across my face. Maybe he's right for once. Maybe there is still beauty out here, in this digital world. Maybe everything will be alright after all.
"Anywaysss...I'mma go ahead inside. You can stare at the sky, or...whatever you're doing. See ya." I heard footsteps leave until there was nothing but silence. Pure silence. And I knew I was going to enjoy it.

This chapter did run a bit flat, but I was running out of ideas for this chapter lol. But in the next chapter I'll try to make it a little bit better! Regardless, I still hope you enjoyed this chapter, even with its flaws. Have a wonderful rest of your day!!
