"My brother will surely kill me." Said Altus and I can't help but to laugh.
"You're overreacting, Altus. Atlas doesn't care about me that much that he would kill his younger brother. As a matter of fact, I don't think he'll even notice that I left." I answered while tapping his shoulder.
He tossed me in the air only to catch me again to fix my position.
I got dizzy from the sudden movement and Altus immediately said sorry.
"I told you it's a bad idea. You're still in your heat. The least that I want is to attract unmated rouges because of your smell." He lectured while he continued to walk in the forest right at the end of the border with me on his back.
When I asked him to take me away from their house, he said no multiple times before I finally made him give in. I know he can't resist me. Just like when we were young.
"Why do you badly want to get away from him?" Altus asked after more minutes of walking.
I fell silent and my smile dropped. Altus sensed the sudden shift of my emotion and I felt him get serious too.
"My heat is ending soon." I told him honestly. He nodded at my answer as if it's enough but I chose to continue. "I am weak and vulnerable during my heat cycle, that's why he can't just reject me. He probably knows that the pain from my heat doubled by the rejection can kill me."
I look at him through his shoulders and even though he's silent, I know he's listening intently.
"Once my heat is over and I'm in his territory, I know he won't hesitate to completely reject me." I finished.
He nodded at what I said and I felt him stop moving. I looked at what's in front of us and saw a small hut standing firmly at the end of our pack's border.
"This is where the warriors stay whenever they're patrolling this part of the border. Don't worry, no one's inside because there's no recent threat in our pack in this area." He said and gently put me down from his back.
I walked past him to enter the small house and I instantly felt cozy upon seeing the minimalist interior inside.
"You can stay here for the night until your heat ends. That way, you're safe from unmated wolves and I'm safe from my brother's wrath." He added and I laughed at his joke.
When I turn to look at him I don't see any humor from his face.
"I'm serious. My brother is going to kill me once he finds out that it was me who let you get away. I'm doing you a huge favor so I hope you do me a favor in return." Altus said seriously.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Don't give up on my brother." He said before leaving me, not waiting for my answer to his words.
