"You're free to come back in now, love,"

As soon as Cleo heard one of the nurses call from inside, she jumped up and rushed back into the cabin. Martyn was sitting on one of the medical beds, knees pulled up to his chest and band-aids on his face and legs. His shirt was torn at the top slightly, exposing another, larger band-aid. As he heard the door open, he scrambled to shove the bedside cabinet closed, quickly returning to how he was sat before.

The nurse smiled at Cleo before leaving to the side office, leaving the two of them alone. Well, apart from Grian, but he was still out cold from his fall so it didn't exactly count.

"How do you feel?" She asked after a few seconds, unsure of exactly what to say.
"How do you think I feel?" The blonde laughed, though Cleo could see it hurt.
"You don't have to stand there like you're just watching me, you can sit down," He gave a weak smile, gesturing for Cleo to sit down on the end of the bed.

"Do you want anything from your room? I can get you clean clothes, or a blanket, or something?" She offered, turning towards the door instead. Martyn didn't say anything for a few seconds, picking at a band-aid on his knee.
"If you want to leave you can just say that, I wouldn't get upset,"

"I'm not going anywhere if you don't want me to," Cleo turned back to him. A small smile appeared on his face, and she took the hint, going back to sit on his bed.

The two talked for a while, both silently agreeing to pull the curtain divider shut as Grian woke up. They figured he and Scar would need some privacy.

"Grian?" Scar whispered, seeing him move for the first time in around an hour. The avian stretched his wings, sighing as he opened his eyes.
"Scar?" He mumbled in surprise, still not completely awake.
"I'm so glad you're awake," Scar smiled, still making sure to speak softly.
"How did I get here?" Grian asked quietly, moving his wings to try and sit up.

"Ah- I carried you," Scar blushed, trying to change the subject. "The nurse said you sprained your wing,"
Grian nodded, stretching his injured wing out to the side. "I can feel that" He laughed weakly.

"I'm sorry," The brunette's voice cracked slightly as he spoke. "For last night, I mean," He paused, and there was a few seconds of silence. "I can- I can leave now, if you need some space,"

Grian sighed, reaching over to Scar to take his hand. The taller boy didn't pull away, gently squeezing his hand and looking back over to Grian. Even like this, he looked handsome. He felt himself blush again, this time not out of embarrassment.

"I'm not mad, you don't need to be sorry," The blonde finally said, and he said it like he meant it, too. "I think if I'd said no I would've regretted it," He paused for a minute, thinking. "I don't- you can probably tell where this is going, you're not stupid," He muttered, taking his hand back from Scar.

Anything Scar wanted to say in that moment seemed to be caught in his throat. Grian liked him? Grian liked HIM? He took a deep breath.

"Unless I'm really, horribly wrong with what I think you're trying to say," He laughed nervously, "I think I feel the same way,"

"Really?" Grian asked quietly.
"Really," Scar replied, taking his hand again.
"Can I kiss you?"

Grian nodded, leaning in to close the gap between the two. And, sure enough, it felt just as good as the first time.

Martyn and Cleo were squished up on the bed, sharing a set of earbuds and watching something on the zombie's phone, and Grian was asleep again, hugging Scar who was now on his bed as he slept. And, they were mostly left alone all morning, eating lunch in the medical cabin and just waiting until Grian and Martyn would be allowed to go back out and join the rest of the group.
