Chapter 20

Two Days Later

January 5th , 8:15 AM , Tuesday

Lexi POV

I woke up to my alarm going off indicating it was time for me to get up and get ready for work. I hopped outta bed and walked into Melo's room to see he was still sleep. I was going to get him ready for daycare after I was finished. I walked back into my room and hopped into the shower for 15-20 minutes washing every part of my body with my pineapple body wash before hopping out drying off. I lotioned down my body and slid on my boy shorts and bra. The good thing about working in a fashion store in the mall is that I get to wear my own style of clothes everyday. I looked through my closet filled of clothes debating on what I should wear today. I decided I was gonna be a little simple today. I slid on my ripped denim skinny jeans and fasten the together. I grabbed my red belt and slid it through the hoops of my pants before buckling it. I slid my colorful socks on my feet before sliding on my red timbs. I walked in my closet and got my red TRILLEST crewneck out of the closet and slid it over my head. I slid on my diamond stud earrings before applying my deodorant. I applied on a little make-up and rolled on some red lipstick. I walked in the bathroom and plugged in my flat iron. While my flat iron got hot , I walked into Melo's room to wake him up. I picked him up out his crib and grabbed his clothes before walking out of his room. I looked at the clock and it was 8:46. I had to be at work at 9:45. I washed Melo's face and washed him up before sliding on his black Spongebob hoodie over his head. I grabbed his denim joggers and slid them over his legs. I put his black ankle socks on his feet before sliding on his Thunder 14's and tying them up. I brushed his hair before walking in the bathroom and straightening my hair. After fixing my hair it was 9:12AM. I grabbed my phone and picked up Melo. I turned my light off and walked downstairs. Quan was still sleep and didn't have to work today. I grabbed my keys and walked out the door making sure to lock it behind me. I strapped Melo down in his seat before hopping in the driver seat. I put on my seat belt before backing out of the driveway. I had dropped Melo off at school and it was 9:35. I had 10 minutes to get to work but I wasn't worried about being late. I arrived at the mall by 9:40. I had clocked in then decided I wanted a cappuccino. I had to use the bathroom anyway, so I stopped by Starbucks and grabbed me a French Vanilla Cappuccino before  heading back to work. I was prepared for these long 8 hours here at Rue 21.

After working for 8 hours , it was finally time for me to clock out and go home. I looked at my phone and seen it was 5:54 PM. I clocked out and walked out the store. I decided instead of cooking tonight that I was just gone get us some fast food. I walked to the food court and decided we were eating philly cheese steaks and loaded fries tonight. I walked over to Charley's and ordered three 12-inch philly cheese steak sandwiches and 3 orders of loaded fries. I love their lemonade so I decided to buy 3 of those also. I waited about 15 minutes before I got our food. I grabbed our food and made sure everything was in the bag. I walked out of the mall and over to my truck. I unlocked my car door and hopped in. I sat the lemonades in the cupholders and placed the bag in the passenger seat. I drove about 20-25 minutes until I got home. I parked the truck and took the keys out the ignition. I stuffed the keys into my back pocket along with my phone. I grabbed the drinks along with the bag of food and closed the door. I walked to the door and the door was unlocked. I shook my head at how careless Quan is sometimes. Anybody could walk in on him and he wouldn't even know it. I closed the door making sure to lock it behind me. I sat the lemonades on the kitchen table along with the bag of food. I sat my keys on the counter before walking in the living room to see Melo and Quan there playing. Melo looked my way and started smiling.

"Mommy !" he squealed as he ran towards me.

I smiled and picked him up hugging him tightly. I kissed his cheek before leaning down and pecking Quan's lips. I sat on the couch and blew out a sigh of relief. I been on my feet all day and I was so happy to be sitting down for once. 

"How was your day babe ?" Quan asked.

"It was straight. No crazy ass customers so shidd I was straight. What did you do all day since yeen have to work ?" I asked kicking my timbs off my feet.

He got up off the floor and sat beside me on the couch rubbing my feet , "Did a little shopping and shit. Took my mom's out for breakfast. She told me that Mason was coming home soon. You remember who he is ?"

I shook my head , "No babe , not really." I said as I layed back closing my eyes.

"My brother that's been deployed across seas for 4 years now." He responded

"Ohh yeaa. How do you feel about him coming back home since he been gone for 4 years ?" I asked

He sighed , "Nigha just up and left the family without saying anything. I done missed him but I mean , shit , 4 years and the only person you done kept in touch with is momma. I'm glad he's coming home though."

I nodded my head , "Maybe he was going through a tough time at the moment and he just wanted to leave for a little while without letting anybody know. He probably didn't intend on being gone for 4 years but sometimes you just cant control that kind of stuff. He's finally coming back home so that's all that matters."

He looked over at me , "I love you Lex."

I smiled , "I love you more Quan."

He layed back on the couch and closed his eyes. I was tired and I could use a lil hour nap. Melo had fell asleep in my arms and now it was me and Quan's turned. I swept my body around and layed my head on Quan's chest laying Melo beside me on the couch. I was begging for this nap all day and now I finally can get it. I work 8 hours every other day and go to school the days ion work during the week. 19 years old and I'm outcheaa grinding like a motherfucker. My parents aint raise no bums.

After staying asleep for 2 hours , we finally woke up. I was hungry and so was my boys. Mersades had already ate her sandwich when she came home from cheer practice. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed the bag of food along with our lemonades and walked back into the living room. We ate our food each sharing every other bite with Melo. After eating , I bathe Melo and layed him down for bed. I had a big ass exam tomorrow which would determine whether or not I needed to do one more year of college or let this third year be my LAST. I showered and threw on my long t-shirt. I walked back downstairs and sat in the living room with the TV off. I studied for about 2 hours for my exam tomorrow and then decided to call it a night. I turned the light off and walked into the kitchen. I grabbed my fruit punch out of the fridge and took a sip before going upstairs. I turned the kitchen light off and walked upstairs to the bedroom and opened the door. I closed it back and walked over to the bed. I layed down in the bed and pulled the covers over my body. I felt Quan's big arms wrap around my body as I got comfortable. We said our "I love you's" before drifting off to sleep.

The Next Morning

I didn't have to be to class until 1:30. Before Quan went to work at 7:30 this morning , he dropped Melo off at daycare. I wanted to get all the rest I could possibly get for my exam today. These past 3 years have been the hardest but I've worked extremely hard to get to where I am today. I looked at my phone and seen it was 12:54 PM. I hopped out of bed and walked into the bathroom taking a 10 minute shower. My hair was still straight from yesterday so I didn't bother fixing it. I lotioned down my body and slid on my boy shorts and bra. I slipped on a plain white v-neck and slid my black joggers over my legs. I slid on my zebra socks before sliding in my Taxi 12's. I grabbed my phone , book bag , and keys before walking out the door making sure to lock it behind me. I'm gonna make a good grade on my exam tonight so that I can graduate college a year earlier than I need to.
