It was the end of the school day. I was busy packing up my things when I heard someone enter. The footsteps were silent. I stared down. Not daring to look him in the eyes. He searched under his desk and pulled out a pen and a notebook.
And with that, he left.
I whipped my head around just as the door closed.

I grabbed my stuff and left.

I decided to keep my distance as he was walking in front of me with headphones on. There was still only a few kids in the halls. I followed him outside the school. Usually, he'd drive his motorcycle, but today he decided to walk.

Sketchy...

At first, he crossed the road to buy some stuff at a grocery store. I followed pushing past people. A crowd formed at the traffic light. I gasped as I almost bumped into his figure. I slapped my hand across my mouth. Luckily he didn't look back. I took a few steps back. So close...

I found myself following him to the library. The place was empty as usual. The place was filled with art old movie CDs' and of course books. He talked to a woman handing her the bag of groceries. They talked for a few minutes while I was busy pretending to be interested in the daily news on the notice board. I watched as he walked away.
I stood still before walking a different way. I listened to each of his footsteps which was needed all my, concentration as the floor was carpet. My eyes drifted down to the floor as his feet stopped. Never took him for a book guy. I continued walking not wanting to look suspicious or anything.

An old woman walked by, so I quickly pretended to be interested in some random book.

"Oh, how nice it is to see a beautiful young lady like you in the library." She patted my shoulder. The comment made my heart flutter. Old people, I love them.
They could be more understanding than parents sometimes. And then hitting us with the 'I remember when I was young'
Just so lovely.

I smiled at the woman and we chatted about how school life is. And about our favorite books. After a while we said goodbye and she went to check out her books.

Shoot, I forgot. I quickly paced around the library looking down every row.

'where did he go?'
I frowned as I reached the back of the library.
'Did he leave?'
That would be ridiculous unless he knew what he was coming to get.
Ain't nothing making sense.

There was a light tap on my shoulder.

"Looking for me?" I froze in place, not daring to turn back. I'm cooked.
"I'm not dumb"

"Well of course not" I hissed.
"Forget whatever you're trying to do" he gripped my shoulder hard, forcing me to turn around. I squinted as he brought his phone up to my face.
He was on a daily news website. My eyes skimmed across the screen. I frowned looking at him.
"You didn't kill them?"
The news said that the death of the teenagers was caused by expired alcohol.
"How do I know this isn't fake"
"Do you think, I have the guts to kill 49 people?"
"But you knew, didn't you?"

His jaw clenched and stored his phone back in his pocket.
"What am I doing? There's no evidence. Astrid. I'm just a kid"

"But... Why save me and not everyone else"

"You're the only person who doesn't feel the need to consume alcohol at the age of seventeen... They brought it on themselves."
