I silently took a seat next to Holland. He didn't even turn my way. Not that I was expecting him to.
I looked over at Matt, who raised his eyebrow at me.
I waved and he turned away.
I cleared my throat. 'here goes nothing'

"Holden can I ask you something?"

Hie green irises turned first then his head. "Yeah" he said softly.

"Did you and MacKenzie break up?"

"MacKenzie?"

"Yeah, MacKenzie Daslinn"

"We never dated..."

"What?"

"We didn't go out"

"A-Are you sure?" he didn't answer that question. He looked real nervous. Fidgeting with his hands and avoiding eye contact with me. Which is always the opposite of who he usually is. But of course he lost most of his friends too. He could be lying or Matt has mislead me.
But surely, he wouldn't.
Yet, he still doesn't like this we thing.

"You weren't at the party, right?"

"No"

"Was there any particular reason why you didn't come"

"I didn't kill them. If that's what you want to know, I know it is"

"Huh?"

"I didn't kill them Astrid. Why would I"

"But I didn't even say anything"

"You're an open book."

"That's a joke?"

"The fact that you walked in here with him says a lot"

"Wait hold up— Do you have some unfinished beef with Matt?"

"Beef? What, no. Don't you know?"

"Know? Know what?"

Holland's eyes went big for a few seconds before going back yo normal.

"Never mind. And yes MacKenzie and I.. We dated." He scooted out of his chair, I watched as he asked the teacher  something, and left. Okay so now I know Matt wasn't lying but what's up with Holland this time. What's up with everyone?

The school halls looked hauntedly empty. My footsteps echoed across the hall. I just came back from my trip to the bathroom and was now making my way down to the cafeteria. Even though I know there's nothing good. I can't study on an empty stomach. I stared down as I watched two students run down the hall. I clutched my stomach as I felt a slight shot of pain.

"You should tie your laces" Matt grabbed my shoulder, stopping me from placing a foot on the stairs. I looked down to see the laces of Jordan sneakers untied. But I obviously knew they were, I just figured I'd tie it up again some time later. Now I'm just weighing my chances. I could leave it, then there's a 50% chance I'll end up in the hospital. Then I could tie it up, which will make me look like an obedient dog, the choice leaving  me with 50% survival chance. I sighed rubbing my face.
I moved away from Matt so I could bent down and tie my laces.

"Victor! Come back here!" the two kids came running so I quickly shuffled out of the way, my butt hitting the cold floor.

"Julia—Wait!" the boy moved against the railing of the stairs. The girl's body went flying off the stairs. For a moment it felt like everything was moving in slow motion. Her eyes big, her chilling, toe curling scream echoed in my ears. Then there was the loud thud at the end where her body layed limply on the ground. A trail of crimson red formed underneath her head. Her eyes staring openly at mine. My heart sank.

'no'

"Julia!" The boy yelled in terror. Victor bent down besides the girl, his form shaking.
"Someone help! Call the ambulance! SHIT!"

"Get up" Matt whispered in my ear as a crowed started forming.
