It had been many years since I discovered that my father had been in love with Mr. Hamilton. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened, if they ended up together. Sure, I would not be here, but what else would change? I was almost twenty-three now and had a small flat in the area I worked in. I walked out the door to get the mail and noticed a few papers on the ground. The Reynolds Pamphlet. Huh, interesting. I started reading it and reget it immediately. It told about an affair Mr. Hamilton had. Poor Phillip. When I got my mail someone tapped me on the shoulder:
"Excuse me, are you familiar with a Phillip Hamilton?"
I turned around to see George Eacker standing in front of me. Oh great. That idiot.
"Oh, it's you Frances. Since when are you living here?"
"That is none of your business. And yes I know Phillip."
He noticed the papers in my hand.
"You read it too. Hamilton's such a bastard, isn't he?"
Ok. keep it cool. Do not punch him even if you want to. How does he even dare to say such a thing? Hamilton may did something wrong, but he is just a human like us.
"My opinion on this matter is not available for you. Now, if you excuse me, I have more important things to do, than talking to you."
With that I left him standing there and went into my flat. I wanted to read the essays, my father wrote against slavery. I read most of them, wrote some things down, read some books and wrote my first essay against slavery. I reread it and decided it was very good. I heard a knock on my door and went to open it. Infront of me stood Theodosia.
"Hey Theo, come in."
"Hi Frances. I need your help. Phillip kind of asked me out and I don't know what to do."
"What do you mean, Pip kind of asked you out?"
"Well, he wrote me a poem, here."
She handed me a piece of paper. I read the poem.
Dear Theodosia, what to say to you.
You're beautiful and I know it's true.
I'd like to ask you out, but don't know how.
'Cause when you walk in, my heart goes 'wow'.
But if you want to, just name a place and time,
I'll wait for you in the park under the tree of pine.
Wow. That was the cutest thing I've ever read.
"Are you going to meet up with him?"
"Well, I'm unsure. Should I?"
"Definitely! After all that was the cutest thing I have ever read in my entire life."
"Okay. Thanks for the advice."
She hugged me and before I knew it she was out the door. I chuckled. Pip did it. He already told me that he liked Theo, but never found the words to tell her. I continued writing 'till it was midnight. I wrote twenty-five essays. Dad would be proud.
That's all. In the next chapter, there will be a perspective change. But I wont tell you, who's telling. Bye
