When I woke up today, I didn't have the strenght to tell Theo, what had happened yesterday. But I got up, threw on a light grey dress and made my way to the house of the Burrs. All the way I was thinking about how I could have saved him, blaming myself for doing nothing, for just standing by. A few tears went down my cheeks. No. Not now. I can't face Theo like this.
When I reached Theos home I had calmed down. I knocked tree times and a second later Mr. Burr opened the door.

"Miss Laurens, what gives us the honor?"

"I would like to speak to your daughter, Sir."

"Of course, come in. Theo, sweetheart you have a visitor!"

Mr. Burr and I went into the living room and a few minutes later, Theo came in the room.

"Frances, what a surprise! Is everything alright?" She exclaimed of joy.

"Hi Theo. I need to tell you something. You may want to sit down." Now she looked more worried. We sat on the sofa. I looked in her eyes. The wonderful girl wich was sitting in front of me had no idea what was going on.

"I am so sorry to tell you this, but Phillip had a duel yesterday. And as much as I wished he was now here with us, his ghost will live on among us. He also gave me a letter and told me to hand it to you, if he would not make it."

Theo was already crying as I handed her the letter. As she read the letter, she cried harder and I pulled her in for a hug. She felt so fragile in my arms. I rubbed her back to calm her down a bit. I could read the signature and it was hard to hold my tears back. It said:

Yours forever
Phillip Hamilton

When I got home that night, I felt so devastaded like never in my live.
