I looked down from heaven at my little girl. Well, she wasn't that little anymore. Almost twenty-three. Wow. A tear rolled down my cheek. She had grown so much. I felt someone taking my hand. Martha, my loving wife. I still loved Alex, but never had the guts to tell him to his face. But I was happy to have Martha by my side.

"She's just like you, John. The enthusiasm, the courage, the freckles." She chuckled.

"Yeah, you're right. But she's got your face, eyes and hair. The perfect combination."

"That's right. And she's fulfilling your dream. Look, she has been writing essays against slavery."

I started crying. Our little girl had grown so much. And she even knew how to deal with jerks.

"Everything alright, mon ami?"

I hadn't noticed that Lafayette stood next to me.

"I'm just so proud of our little warrior." I smiled.

"Oui, you should be. She managed it to grow up without parents. And she looks tres jolies."

I had to chuckle at Lafayettes face. If he'd be still alive, he would be flirting with her for sure. It was sad that I never really got to meet her, but I was so proud of her. My dream lives on in her. I wish I could thank Alex, for telling her the truth. About me and him. About mine and Marthas death. I wish, I could still spend time with her. I went down to her. She was reading something. I recognised it almost instantly. It was a letter I had written to Alex, after I first met him. Tears were streaming down her face as she read the parts:

'I may not live to see our glory.

But I will gladly join the fight.

And when our children tell our story,

they'll tell the story of tonight.'

A few tears ran down my face as she said:

"I'll tell the stoy of tonight, Pops."

My little girl.

Hope you liked this part. I know it's a bit short, so sorry for that.
