I did it. I published my essays. Whenever I was walking din the streets, I heard people talking about my essays. I did it for you dad. I hope you're proud of me.

I was walking home from the store, when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see Jefferson and another man standing there.

"Miss Laurens, good to see you again." I wasn't so sure ir this was good. "This is James Madison, a friend of mine. He really grew afond of your essays."

"Yes, it is true, your essays are a work of art. But may I ask, why you wrote them against slavery?"

"Well, first off, because I think it is bad for the people and the society. And second off, because my father started it and I want to fulfill his dream."

He gave me a surprised look, then turned around and left with Jefferson. He was a bit wierd.

-Time skip-

A year had passed now. I had published several essays now and I was part of the talk of the town. I had also visited the Hamiltons more often. While I was writing my next essay, someone knoked on my door. I stood up and opened.

"Hey Phillip, come in."

"Hi Frances. I need to talk to you."

"Oh. Well what's on your mind?" I said while closing the door.

"I have a duel tomorrow. With George Eacker."

"Excuse me, but HOW THE HELL did you manage to get into this?"

"Well he harassed about my father. I had to do something. He woulden't apologise. So -"

"So you asked that idiot to duel you. I have only two questions. First, where is this happening? Second and most important, have you spoken with your father?"

"It's happening  across the river in New Jersey. And yes, I have spoken to my father. He told me to aim for the sky. But I have a question  for you. Would you accompany, even though I have a Second? Because, if I die who would tell Theo? I trust you to tell her the truth. So, would you?"

I was surprised. He already thought of the fact, that he could die. And he trusted me, out of all people, to tell Theo the truth.

"Yes, I'll accompany you. But I will come by horse. Stay safe 'till then."

"Thank you. And I will. See you tomorrow."

With that he was out the door. He really was ging to be the death of himself.
