I wore that flower crown everyday after gave it to me. There was something fantastic about the random gift that made it seem that much better. Maybe it was the fact you could tell flower boy was precise when making it, and tailored it specifically to me. It may have just been a simple crown made of faux flowers intricately woven together with fake twigs and secured with some sort of tacky glue (or at least I assume) but I still found the gift something to behold. The flower crown sat on my head each day as I waited for him to return. When he did return, a new array of flowers bunched in his hand as he entered the store, I was sitting prepared with his flower crown on my head and a bag of flowers ready to go.
"Hey flower boy.", I chuckle as he looks at me.
"Hey craft girl.", he states approaching the counter. His eyes land on the bag next to me, but I ignore his gaze acting as if it wasn't there.
"You're actually wearing it?", Seamus asks.
A fond smile rests on his lips as he looks at the flower crown, then I get a sneaking suspicion he wasn't looking at the flower crown but the face which it rested above. My cheek flush red at my realization, but Seamus just smiles acting as if I weren't blushing.
"Yeah I'm actually wearing, why wouldn't I?"
"Because you thought it was ridiculous.", he chuckles.
Seamus shifts as if nervous for my reply. It was honestly rather cute that he cared what I think.
"Nah, I'm always game for nice gifts from overly sweet guys.", I state grinning.
His cheeks flush red at this statement. I just stand there grinning like a fool wondering what brought this onslaught of nervousness and caring to flower boy. Never had it seemed like he particularly cared what anyone thought.
"I brought you a new one.", he mumbles. The crimson on his cheeks grows more intense as he places the ring of flowers on the counter.
A slight blush dusts my cheek as I pick it up inspecting the dark violet petals that contrasted with the smaller orange and pale pink ones; it looked similar to a sunset made up of flowers. Each one was specifically placed, and you could tell by the way they were secured there, stems bent and twisted in odd ways so they were placed perfectly.
"It's beautiful....oh and I got you something.", I state scrambling to hoist the bag off the floor and onto the counter, "you come in here often enough I figured you deserved some free materials."
"Thank you craft girl, but now I have no excuse to rearrange flowers for you.", Seamus chuckles.
'For you'.
He did that purely to help me out.
Maybe I did know that, but it still never failed to amaze me that he took time out of his day to help me out.
"No one said you couldn't, in fact they're more messy than ever.", I state leading him toward the back where the large selection of faux flowers stood. Different colored flowers were mixed all together from careless customers placing them wherever they pleased.
Flower boy wastes no time, immediately getting to work sorting them while I watch for a moment. Shaking my head at his diligent work I help out working on one side while he worked on the other.
Occasionally I feel his eyes on me, but every time I glance he's focused on the flowers. As I continue sorting the feeling of eyes on me never stops, and eventually I do catch Seamus holding up a flower in my direction.
"What are you doing?", I chuckle as he sheepishly lowers his arm.
"Inspecting the flower..", he stutters
"For what?", I inquire curious as to what he was doing.
"Seeing if it's fit for me to work with"
"Is it?"
"Very much so.", he says raising himself off the ground. I catch a glimpse of the flowers he'd arranged just like I'd had them before.
"Thank you.", I say softly.
"No problem, I'll see you around."
"Okay flower boy.", I state watching as he quickly scurries out the door. As I watch him go I can't help but wonder what had gotten into the flower boy.
