Anchor- Novo Amor
Layla slams her apartment door shut in a hurry as Red hopelessly eyes the floor, breathlessly panting as a puddle of water begins to form underneath her from the rain she's soaked in.
Layla turns to Red, her green eyes shaking in confusion, still not understanding how she managed to convince this clearly traumatised woman upstairs.
Layla steps forward and Red's head fearfully snaps up, her lips quivering slightly as bloodshot browns meet worrying greens.
"Red.." Layla mumbles, slowly moving towards her and Red's breathing seems to rapidly increase in intensity, as Layla locks their eyes for some sort of reassurance.
Before Red can even establish Layla's proximity, Layla's hand is hesitantly coming up to Red's cheek, slowly resting her hand against her flushed face, "You need to get changed, you'll get sick like this." Layla speaks, her tone calm and still, somehow managing to hold it all together despite seeing the sight of Red so broken causing her heart to ache, in such a distant but familiar way, as though she feels her pain with her.
Red completely focuses on Layla's words until suddenly she shrugs away, her eyes turning darker, "I'm so sorry, I don't know what I'm doing here." Red's eyes are glued to the floor as she pinches the top of her nose bridge in an attempt to mask the pain across her features so visibly.
Layla's eyes follow Red, "It's okay, you have nothing to be sorry for.." Layla pauses, breathing and looking around, "If you're worried about Freddy, he won't be here, he isn't here." Layla softly reassures which causes Red's head to pick up with relief plastered all across it.
She huffs out a breath of air as a tear slides down her cheek so quietly, Layla intently gazing up at her, "One second." Layla says as she makes her way to another room, Red is still unmoving and in a fixed position until Layla shows back up with a pair of oversized joggers and a hoodie.
Layla extends her arms, Red's eyes finally picking up and eyeing the neatly folded clothes, "It's okay." Red mumbles before Layla shoves it against her chest as if she were prepared for Red's denial.
"Change." She demands, Red's eyes flick up to her to see a small encouraging smile tugging at her lips, Red's heart warms and pounds a little slower as she's brought back to the present with those green eyes.
Red clutches onto the clothes before she turns away and begins towards the couch where she sets them onto the arm before she takes her jacket off and Layla's eyes widen in shock, quickly turning away.
Layla anxiously bites the inside of her cheeks, suddenly feeling unfamiliar in her own home as she holds her eyes to the door, as if she fears looking anywhere else whilst she hears Red scramble her clothes off of herself so quietly but it feels so loud in Layla's head.
"Where should I put these?" Red announces, her voice seeming shaky but still giving stability a try before Layla turns back around, finding Red wearing her dark grey hoodie which despite being oversized, still seems quite tight around Red's arms, and her black joggers.
Red's holding onto her soaked clothes, "Give them here." Layla begins towards her before she swiftly grabs them and hangs them against the radiator.
