In the end, it was a good thing Vegeta hadn't learned that damn ki sense yet. Otherwise he would now feel that weak scum pounce on his prize.

Vegeta tightened his jaw. He could enforce the saiyan tradition... Kakarot had often and willingly used too much autonomy to be the precious prize of the Prince of all saiyans. Kakarot once always wanted to be with him, always looked for him... now he ran to his soldiers.

Scum. They don't deserve him, hissed the fire beast. We have to get our Inali back, he is lost, he doesn't understand... we have to protect him. Our. Precious.

Kakarot would return soon, seeking his scent, asking to be held close to his chest and sleep together. And then Vegeta would have held him close in his furs and purred like a lullaby to soothe the soul of his delicate flower.

The tent was empty, Vegeta couldn't imagine going to bed... alone. The battlefield brought him back to Kakarot. Outside of it, in the storm, he had found peace and the path to reason thanks to the woman.

Knowing her, she too would have wanted peace. But allying with lizards? Would she have been capable of it? Or he would at least have her on his side. The scientist had no strength, no power, no army. But the thought that Bulma might be on her side... was enough to keep him fighting.

The woman had an exceptional mind... he was sure that with her by his side he could go so far. It would certainly be a continuous challenge, Bulma didn't give in when she was convinced of her reasons. She had values, ideals... a big heart. She was against the Ice Empire and she didn't even know it and she hadn't hesitated for a moment to defend her planet.

She had a kind of power that was foreign to him. But he liked it. And her too. And she was in the Ox Kingdom... along with some dragon balls. Even if he knew where these magical balls were located he still didn't have them all in his possession of her... and there was no way Bulma or the Ox Princess would make him use his desire.

And Kakarot?... if only they had had more time Kakarot would be much more in touch with that saiyan side that he didn't know he had before meeting him. Then he wouldn't have given weight to the deaths of the Dragon soldiers.

Inali is good. He will forgive us. We know it.

Vegeta narrowed his eyes. He felt like a bundle of nerves. This wasn't how he'd planned to tell him about the deaths – he didn't want to tell him anything. The more he revealed himself, the more he risked pushing Kakarot away.

He jumped up from his comfortable chair, deciding to break into the Dragon's camp to get his Inali back. In front of everyone. So those fools would finally understand that they shouldn't dare touch such a pure creature. Not with those unworthy hands. Not when they didn't recognize a rare flower.

He froze: Kakarot had given him an extra warning. He wasn't going to break his promise... but... he was just trying to keep as many promises as possible at the same time. A bit like he tried to move the threads of war on multiple fronts, Kakarot did it in another field.

Kakarot would have continued with that little show, he didn't understand why. He had never actually asked... but Kakarot had never been one for him to explain, to open up. He could let them plunder his body, but it was clear that none of those yokels knew him in the slightest. So... it was likely... that after the soldiers, Kakarot would go to his wife. Serving his Queen. And maybe he too could have a Queen? He had never thought about it.

While he wanted to chain Kakarot's heart and bind their souls, he would never bother ancient traditions and ancestors to hold Bulma. Why?

With Kakarot it had been a refined hunt, a finely woven web of lies and deception, diplomacy. An acting so perfect that he had fallen for it himself. But when he thought of Kakarot as a likely mate his own brain and very bones refused. He had never given the young saiyan a choice. Ironically... he wanted nothing more than to woo Kakarot, hunting him as if he were as rare prey as he was. Show him what he didn't know yet, a world that belonged to him but he didn't know it yet, help him explore half of himself, accompanying him... giving him... a safe place...
