The King had threatened him. His father usually did it: no advice, no suggestions. King Vegeta III threatened, and it was almost always a death threat. No one had ever survived his fury.
In the past Vegeta had admired his father so much for his ruthlessness and cunning, strength... but today he saw only a pale reflection of what could really be a King.
Was the sovereign starting to suspect? Would he kill his own son? One thing was sure: the King was a man of his word. Vegeta was not afraid however, not with such a prize at hand. He therefore had to think outside the box. It was clear that the King had not foreseen this betrayal of his - as his father had called him in the last message, so Vegeta still had some advantages.
The time was now up and he had to play all out, he was not afraid of getting burned on the contrary, the very thought made the fire beast in him gloat, but he had to be careful not to hurt Goku during the process, physically and emotionally. He told himself it was for the plan's success, because he didn't make sense that those eyes were brighter than the skies of any planet he'd been to. He had heard of warriors who lost their wits during the war but he refused to be one of them.
In a day or two they would be leaving that damned place, the road could split and Vegeta had to get closer to the Prince Consort, give him everything he had dreamed of and more. Give him sensations and emotions that he didn't even know existed. Pampering his Kakarot like only a Saiyan can. With the absolute certainty that the stars in the young man's eyes would be for him and him alone.
Vegeta had everything organized, even the details he didn't like. As he looked at Raditz's disgusted face he imagined for a fleeting moment to tell him everything, but he bit his tongue: it wasn't his job.
The fire beast's inner voice suggested that perhaps letting both of them know they were brothers could help Goku and bring him closer to him, but Vegeta willingly let himself be distracted by Nappa's grinning face. The bald giant looked extremely amused and the news of what was to take place soon made him full of anticipation.
"And tell me, Vegeta... did you let the little dragon tell you how he managed to reach the power of the super saiyan?"
Vegeta gritted his teeth. He knew it had to be a priority and in any other situation he would have dedicated himself to discovering the mechanism for himself, but perhaps it was similar to the feeling he had felt looking at Goku in the tub. He felt there was a connection.
And the Prince had not missed Nappa's tail: a little swollen with excitement.
"Oh Nappa..." he whispered like the devil. "I aspire to much more. A road perhaps too demanding for your mind."
The General was not discouraged. "Since when is it challenging to fuck? Or is the Dragon too much for you to handle, Vegeta?" he howled amused by his own joke, Raditz was sitting nearby and wanted to be somewhere else but a corner of his mouth rose against his will.
Vegeta thought of the scent of water and the rare flower. Inali. Keeping calm. "Maybe he's too much for you others." he growled satisfied at Nappa's momentary offended expression as he recovered immediately and sighed dramatically.
"Maybe after today you won't be enough for him anymore!"
Raditz looked at the General with wide eyes. He didn't like the whole thing, but Nappa was crossing the line. Vegeta had never appreciated camaraderie, and he remembered well times when it had taken Vegeta much less to maim and kill. In fact... lately Vegeta was more... quiet and confident, in a way different from what he had always been- and letting him notice it would have been like signing his own death.
