-Taehyung-

Does it even matter if I'm single or not?

I glanced up from the papers scattered across my study table to see my mom standing there, her expression a mix of concern and determination. I knew what was coming; she was about to lecture me again about finding someone to marry. I was twenty-nine, and ever since my last relationship ended seven years ago, I'd been single. My ex-girlfriend, the so-called pretty one, had cheated on me, and since then, I hadn't given much thought to relationships. A bit of harmless flirting with random girls was enough for me.

"Are you even listening to your mom?" she asked, placing her hand on my desk.

"Yes, Mom," I replied with a tired sigh. She cupped my cheeks, her eyes softening with worry.

"You work too much, Tae. Why don't you find someone who will take care of you? Not every girl is the same."

My lips formed a pout as her palms pressed against my cheeks. "It's not about girls being the same or not, Mom. It's about finding the right person, and that someone hasn't entered my life yet."

She smirked an expression that always made me uneasy. Without a word, she unlocked her phone and started showing me pictures of girls she wanted me to go on dates with. I tried to go back to work, but one picture caught my attention.

"Y/N?" I asked, taking the phone from her hand. She smiled brightly.

"Good thing you know her. Her mother also wants her to go on blind dates, just like I want for you."

"No way! I'm not dating someone like her!" I said, irritated. I tried to refocus on my work.

"How long have you known her?" Mom questioned again.

"Um... this morning," I admitted sheepishly. My mom laughed and lightly smacked the back of my head.

"You can't judge her based on a few hours or a few minutes, Tae." She tapped on her phone, and suddenly, I received a notification. It was Y/N's phone number and it was from my mom. Mom walked out of my office with a triumphant grin.

I stared at my phone, contemplating. I couldn't date her, could I? Maybe flirting was fine, but a relationship? Still, maybe I could pretend to date her just to make my mom happy. She was kind of pretty, but I was worried I might end up hurting her. I had tried to date other girls after my ex, but my trust issues always got in the way.

But if I get an offer of dating fake, I'll accept it.

The next morning in my office, I found the atmosphere tense. The intern was waiting. "Mr. Min wants to see you."

I nodded, feeling a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. My heart raced as I headed to Mr. Min's office. The car design, my masterpiece, was about to be reviewed.

Mr. Min's office was grand, reflecting his status. He sat behind his massive desk, looking at me sternly.

"Taehyung," he began, his voice authoritative. "Your design—it's impressive. The lines, the innovation, it's all there. But there's something I need to discuss."

I held my breath. "Yes, sir?"

"I'm retiring," he said, his eyes softening. "I'm handing over the company to my nephew. He'll be the one approving your design."

Shock and confusion washed over me. "But... you're the one who always—"

"I know," he interrupted gently. "But it's time for a change. Meet him tomorrow. Impress him."

I nodded, struggling to process the news. I left his office, my mind in turmoil. Who was this nephew? Would he appreciate my work?

-Y/N-

I gulped and glanced at the notification that popped up on my locked phone screen. It had been there for almost four hours, and I still hadn't opened it. I knew what it was about another guy or the guy's mom liked my photo after seeing it for dating options. I sighed, thinking about how she managed to get so many connections and aunties to send it forward to others. It felt unnecessary, and she had been arguing with me for a year, insisting I should never like a guy on my own because it was never worth it.

I locked my phone without checking the text, slid it into my pocket, and grabbed my laptop and keys to leave my apartment. As I stepped out, I heard my neighbor arguing again. An exhausted Yoongi emerged from his door with dark circles under his eyes, the shouts of his girlfriend fading as he closed the door. He waved at me, and I waved back. He took the newspaper from his mail.

I tried to ignore the feeling, but a shiver ran down my spine. I rushed to the elevator to escape everything happening between them, as it reminded me of my past situation. I heard his girlfriend's shout, even from the ground floor, and I was sure other neighbors would report her.
______

Jimin dragged me to the conference hall of the company building, leaving me confused.

"Where are we going?" I whined as his arm tugged mine, his forehead slightly sweaty.

"It's time," he stated, and I frowned.

"Time? Time for what?"

He stopped, and I looked around the hall, which was crowded with employees. "For Mr. Min's nephew to take over the company. You really don't check your emails, do you?" He raised an eyebrow, making me chuckle nervously because it was true.

I looked around again and saw a person I recognized coming into the conference hall with one of the interns, his eyes glued to his phone screen as always. I didn't know his name, but he was tall and had perfect facial features, like a Greek god.

I still remember him arguing with me about the coffee when I bumped into him, spilling it over his coat, two days ago. He was rude, but to be honest, whenever I bumped into someone as good-looking as him, they always apologized first and then tried to impress me. Well, I didn't think every good-looking one chased me, but they were usually toxic. Him?

He was different...

Claps echoed in the conference hall as Jimin made me look towards the front at the stage where Mr. Min stood, smiling and giving his usual long speech. But at the end, my eyebrows frowned.

He stated, "I'm tired of work and responsibilities, but now I know someone who can take care of everything and make the dreams I tried to achieve come true."

He took a deep breath and continued, "I trust him the most. After losing my lovely son, he became as valuable as my son. Please welcome my wonderful and amazing nephew, Jeon Jungkook."

What the heck!?

I looked at Jimin. He stared at the stage, his eyes bigger than usual but not as big as mine, as a long-legged man stepped onto the stage stairs, wearing a suit. His bunny smile filled the hall with warmth for everyone except Jimin and me.

"I hope your warm welcome will encourage me to work as hard as my uncle did..." He smiled brightly and looked at everyone in the hall. His eyes moved over and away from me, only to stop on me again. I felt nervous as heck as he didn't even blink while staring at me and continuing his speech.

It's fucked up as hell!
