-Jungkook-
It was unexpected, wasn't it?
I finished my speech, my eyes never leaving her. Jimin stood beside her, and I knew from the moment he joined this company right after graduation that things would change.
Her face, her gaze, her bangs, and her long dark hair were unchanged. But the situation between us was different. Seeing her now, after so long, brought back a rush of emotions. She never failed to make my heart race with that soft glance. Yet, I knew it was over when she looked at me just like she did the day she left, leaving me to cry in regret under the rain.
The memory of that day is still vivid, the wound in my heart as fresh as when I first realized I was never the ideal one for her.
Jimin's hand gripped her wrist, a sight that once made my blood boil and still did. He knew I was walking down the stairs, heading straight for her, ignoring the women employees who were drooling over me.
Had I not moved on?
It made me think, maybe I hadn't moved on.
No, I hadn't moved on.
And then he dragged her out of the hall. The friendship between me and him paled compared to his almost sibling-like bond with my Pearl.
Maybe, She wasn't my Pearl anymore.
-Taehyung-
I knocked on the CEO's cabin door. It felt odd since he was younger than me, a product of rich men's business where heirs and relatives got these positions without much effort. Meanwhile, people like me, from average families, remained average despite our hard work.
"Come in," his voice came. I walked inside, his chair swiveling slightly as he spun his pen between his fingers, his gaze falling on me.
"Good morning, Mr. Jeon, well you must have heard from Mr. Min about the design I showed him but he recommended me to show it to you to get a satisfactory review," I said, placing my laptop on the large desk. He raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, yes. You're Mr. Kim, correct?" He nodded, leaning over his desk, fingers intertwined and resting on the cold surface of his desk.
I nodded, and he gestured for me to proceed.
His features were sharp and attractive, especially to women, though not as much as me.
I shook my hand with him as he gave a bright bunny smile and he approved my design.
"I'll be supervising this because it's a really great progress for us, Mr. Kim. Let's meet at the advertisement department directly then?" He stated, that he was much more mature than his age and it made me feel like he was almost my age, and I gave a recurring smile accepting that gladly.
-Y/N-
"Y/N..." I turned from my laptop to see Jimin emerging from the CMO's cabin, his face a storm cloud of frustration. He looked as rattled as I felt by the news that Jungkook was now the CEO.
He moved swiftly between the desks, coming to a stop beside mine, and sighed, his hands bracing against the surface. His veins stood out, a testament to his agitation.
"A new car design is going to be the death of us," he muttered, dragging a chair over and sitting down. The usual office chatter was subdued, the atmosphere thick with the weight of the day's revelation. I scowled.
"How come?" I asked, my fingers still flying over the keyboard, trying to focus on work and ignore the emotional bombshell that had just exploded.
"Are you serious, Y/N? Jungkook, of all people! You cried your heart out just days ago when I accidentally mentioned him." His fist hit my desk, startling me and everyone nearby.
"Do you know Kim Taehyung, the designer of the new car?" Jimin asked, trying to calm down. I shook my head, and he pulled out his phone, showing me an Instagram profile.
"Him? He was the guy I bumped into the other day..." I said, looking up at Jimin. His hand clenched around his phone, visibly tense.
"He's Kim Taehyung. Great, now we have to deal with a jerk and your almost-enemy," Jimin said, locking his phone and resting his forehead on my desk, fists clenched.
"What do you mean?" I asked, saving my work and shutting my laptop. Jimin took a deep breath.
"The CMO assigned me, you, and three others from our department to work on the car design Kim Taehyung created. And guess what? The new CEO, Jungkook, will be hovering around like a bug," he said, his voice tinged with resignation.
My eyes widened. "No way he's going to be around!" I shook my head, fists clenching. Jimin nodded, confirming my worst fears.
"How long?" I asked, tugging on his shirt sleeve. He sighed, shrugging.
"Almost two months," he replied, and I shook my head, feeling overwhelmed.
"No! How about I resign?" I suggested, taking a deep breath. Jimin frowned.
"No, you're going to be fine. He's just a guy you need to move on from," he said, standing up and patting my shoulder. "You can't resign because of a stupid guy who cheated on you a year ago."
I felt a surge of frustration. "I'm done with my situation now!"
