-Third Person's POV-

You gulped as you tapped your fingers on the table, anxiety bubbling within you. "Stupid fate of mine," you muttered under your breath, wondering how you'd handle talking to your ex-boyfriend in this meeting. Maybe not today, but soon enough.

Jimin, your ever-reliable friend, tapped you lightly on the shoulder and pointed to the line of three employees from the advertisement department.

"It's fine..." he whispered, his face showing relief. "Jungkook's not coming today, but you have to deal with Kim Taehyung. Maybe act a bit polite this time." He shrugged, his attempt at easing your tension appreciated, but only marginally effective.

You stood up, joining the line with Jimin at the perfect moment. Taehyung entered through the large glass doors, his presence commanding attention as he glanced around the room.

He had known you were in the advertisement department and had even convinced the CMO to assign you to his project. He was hoping to see the shock on your face, but you weren't surprised at all. Jimin had already filled you in.

Taehyung shoved his hands into his pockets, and you could hear the girls giggling and whispering around him. You glanced at the intern who was setting up the board of charts and car designs, feeling a mixture of nerves and curiosity.

Taehyung's gaze found yours, a blend of confusion and confidence. You met his eyes, feeling the weight of his scrutiny.

"Hello, everyone..." He clapped his hands together, his gaze lingering on you before addressing the group. The five of you, including Jimin, were more important than the others for the design project.

"You all must have heard of me, except for one person." His gaze stopped on you again, making you frown briefly before you composed yourself.

"You must've gotten to know me lately, right?" he smiled, softer than the last time you saw him. Jimin glanced between you two but kept quiet, knowing it could end badly if he intervened.

"I guess, yeah." You pressed your lips together and nodded slowly. He extended his hand, and you shook it, noting his better mood today.

Taehyung's mind raced with thoughts of his mother's illness, trying to hide his trauma. He wanted to act along with you, maybe even fake-date, to make his mother happy.

Time flew by as everyone got to work after the brief meeting. Jungkook passed by the glass doors, his eyes scanning the room. He wanted to see you, someone he thought he couldn't win back.

His eyes landed on Taehyung leaning over your desk, smiling as you discussed advertisement ideas. Taehyung looked up, noticing Jungkook approaching.

"Y/N..." Jungkook's voice rang in your ears. You looked up, blinking. Jimin had said he'd handle this. Where was he?

Taehyung interrupted cheerfully, "I thought you were coming tomorrow for supervising?"

"I wanted to see someone I know. Thought it was today," Jungkook raised an eyebrow. You stood, understanding his implication, and cleared your throat as an idea struck you.

You linked arms with Taehyung, leaning into him like a spoiled girlfriend. If Taehyung didn't play along, you'd be in trouble.

"I know," you said. Jungkook's eyebrows furrowed as he glared at your linked arms. "Nice to see you, Mr. Jeon. But now, you're my boss not someone I know from ages."

Taehyung was confused but rolled with it. "Oh, Taehyung is my boyfriend," you added enthusiastically. Taehyung blinked, processing, but went along.

"Yeah! She's my g-girlfriend," Taehyung smiled, wrapping an arm around your waist. You looked up at him, wide-eyed, then back at Jungkook, whose jaw clenched in frustration.

Jungkook glared at the two of you, then turned to leave. "Unexpected as always, but a beautiful girl like you can get anyone," he said, walking out, fists clenched in his pockets.

You felt relieved, not knowing why Taehyung had played along. The office buzzed with whispers, everyone shocked by the scene.

"Sorry," you whispered to Taehyung, escaping his arm and rushing to Jimin, aware of the women employees' eyes on you.

"What the heck was that, Y/N?" Jimin whispered as you reached his desk.

"He was trying to talk, so I said it," you shrugged, unable to explain fully. Jimin rolled his eyes but smiled.

"You got a boyfriend though!" he teased.

"A fake one, just in front of Jungkook," you sighed. Jimin handed you a file, nudging you back to your desk. Taehyung stood nearby, replaying the drama but smiling at you anyway.

Later That Day

The office had settled into its usual rhythm by mid-afternoon. You tried to focus on your work, but your mind kept drifting back to the unexpected turn of events. You glanced over at Taehyung, who was engrossed in his work but occasionally looked up, meeting your eyes with a curious smile.

Jimin slid into the chair next to you, a mischievous grin on his face. "So, what's the plan now, fake girlfriend?"

You rolled your eyes. "The plan is to get through this project without any more drama."

"Good luck with that," he chuckled. "By the way, Taehyung seems pretty cool about the whole thing. Maybe you two should talk."

You sighed, knowing he was right. You couldn't avoid Taehyung forever, especially not if you were going to be working closely with him.

Gathering your courage, you walked over to Taehyung's desk. He looked up, his expression unreadable.

"Can we talk for a minute?" you asked, trying to keep your voice steady.

He nodded, standing up and following you to a quieter corner of the office. "What's up?"

"About earlier... I'm sorry for dragging you into that. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing, and I didn't really think it through."

He smiled, a genuine one that made you feel a bit more at ease. "It's okay. I kind of figured that. But now that we're in this... situation, we should probably have a plan."

"A plan?" you echoed, not sure where he was going with this.

"Yeah. If we're going to keep up this act, we need to be consistent. Make sure our stories align."

You nodded, seeing the logic in his words. "That makes sense. But why are you so willing to go along with this? You barely know me."

His expression turned serious, and for a moment, you saw a flicker of vulnerability in his eyes. "Let's just say I have my reasons."

Before you could press further, Jimin called out, "Hey, lovebirds, we have a meeting in five!"

You rolled your eyes but couldn't help smiling. "We'd better get back."

As you walked back to your desk, you felt a strange mix of emotions. Taehyung had been unexpectedly kind and understanding, and for the first time in a long while, you felt a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, things might work out.
