Elena draped her black leather coat over her shoulders as she left the black SUV, the moon illuminating the street and her facial features. Her backpack was thrown over her shoulder and she could feel the photo book pressing against her back.
It wasn't heavy, but she was still slower than the two in front of her. They walked at such a fast pace that she could barely follow, not that she wanted to. She rather stayed right where she was standing, in the shadow of the streetlamps and the cold wind letting her shiver. The building in front of her was for sure not her favorite.
She had been living in the shadows of her father and unlike everyone else, actually liked it. But now, here, in the huge building filled with people and cameras, she was nauseous. She could feel the chocolate bars coming back up, her hands over her stomach as she took in a deep breath.
'Elena?' Clint's voice called out for her as she steadied her breath again. She hummed and began walking, hiding her fear behind the only reason she agreed to come: to find out who killed her father and why. She figured it was easier to get information if she had access to literally all the cameras around the world.
'You coming? I don't know the way in this enormous building', she shouted back when she left him standing there. He huffed in annoyance, already disliking the whole situation.
Once inside the building, the trio made their way towards the elevator.
The clean metal could easily reflect their figures as they waited for it to open. The difference between each one of them was quite big; Clint being the tallest of them all, Natasha with her fiery red locks and Elena her figure being completely hidden in her leather coat, they all had their own flaws.
Once the metal box opened and all its passengers had left, Elena got in, followed by both agents. The elevator was bigger than any other she had been in, but the two people beside her didn't make it easy for her to stay calm.
No, she isn't claustrophobic. She just isn't a people person. And elevators tend to have many people in them, one of the reasons she almost never takes them.
Luckily for her, her body is able to relax once they're out and walking in a never ending hallway. Elena does not know where they are going, so she is on high alert, like her mother thought her.
Her eyes had catched the hidden cameras in the corners of the hall even before she entered, the window on her left told her they were too high to just simply jump out of there. However, the guns in the holders of the many guards and other agents walking around told her that she could easily "shoot" her way out.
After a five minute walk, they arrived at two closed, black doors. The doors were metal and thick, Elena was sure something important was behind that.
She made herself ready by hovering her right hand over the gun hidden in a holster around her hip and her ears and eyes on high alert. With everything that had happened these past few days, she didn't believe anyone or anything, let alone two highly skilled agents showing up on her doorstep to bring her somewhere "safe".
She doubted it was safe here, every agency like this has traitors. And this being so big and important, she knew there were people here who would love to kidnap her for some money.
But if she had to believe their cards, both people in front of her were level nine, probably one of the highest levels you could get. If there was any higher one. Ten probably.
And oh boy there was one.
