Being in 1955 for a week is already showing to be a struggle as now Marty has to find a way to get Kathryn Baines and George McFly to meet, go to the dance, and fall in love. Easy right? Doc Brown and Marty are wandering the halls of the high school to form a plan. "Now remember, according to my theory you interfered with your parent's meeting. They don't meet, they don't fall in love, they won't get married, and they won't have kids. That's why your older brother disappeared from that photograph. Your sister will follow and unless you repair the damages, you will be next." Doc warns the boy.

Marty's eyes are wide as they scan the halls, "This sounds pretty heavy." he replies nervously.

"Weight had nothing to do with it." Doc says before also looking around. "Which one's your pop?" he questions

"That's him." Marty says, gesturing to George who was getting kicked by other students making him stubble as he walks down the hall.

"Okay, okay, you guys, oh ha ha ha, very funny. Hey, you guys are being real mature." George says to those kicking him, showing Doc and Marty that he had a 'kick me' sign stuck to his back.

"Maybe you were adopted." Doc says, cringing at what he just watched.

"Okay, real mature, guys." George says before Biff knocks down his books making his friends laugh again. "Okay, Biff, will you pick up my books?"

"McFly." Strickland says making Marty's eyes go wide.

"That's Strickland. Jesus, didn't that guy ever have hair?" he comments as they watch the scene unfold

"Shape up man." Strickland scolds as he pulls the sign off George's back. "You're a slacker. You wanna be a slacker for the rest of your life?"

"No." George replies.

"What did your mother ever see in that kid?" Doc questions.

"I don't know, Doc. I guess she felt sorry for him because her dad hit him with the car... hit me with the car." Marty says with a sigh.

"That's the Florence Nightingale effect. It happens in hospitals when nurses fall in love with their patients." Doc explains.

"But it was weird, my aunt was the one all over me, not her. So how come he and her got together?" Marty points out confused.

"The universe is strange. Or maybe you're not her type. Oh, go to it, Kid." Doc shoves him in the direction George was headed.

"Hey George, buddy, hey. I've been lookin' all over for you. You remember me, that guy who saved your life the other day?" Marty strikes up a conversation.

"Yeah." George says nervously, as Marty puts his arm over his shoulder, guiding him down the hall.

"Good, there's somebody I'd like you to meet. Kathy!" Marty greets, making Lorraine turn in surprise much faster than any of the other girls.

"Calvin!" she says in surprise, before grabbing her sister and forcing her to turn around.

"I'd like you to meet my good friend George McFly." Marty says, pulling the lanky boy next to him.

"Hi George." the shorter girl says, making the other boy nervously smile at her.

"Hi Kathryn." George says a bit breathlessly.

"How's your head?" Lorraine says, pulling her sister over to Marty, "Oh check him over Kathy, you always know what to do."

With Kathryn's attention now on Marty, George deflates a bit and walks away as the girls fuss over the new kid. "Are you okay? Does it still hurt?" she asks him, going to move his hair but he flinches away. She took that as it still hurts.

"Well, uh, good. Fine." Marty answers, taking a step away from the two girls.

"Oh, we've been so worried about you ever since you ran off the other night. Are you okay?" Lorraine fusses over him.

"I'm sorry I have to go." Marty says as he realizes his father isn't around him anymore, and rushes to find him.

"Isn't he a dream boat?" Lorraine says to their friends with a giggle. "Perfect for KittyKat here." she teases.

Kathy's face flushed pink at the remark. "He's alright I guess." she says looking down at her shoes.

"He gets nervous talking to you, that's for sure." their friend Betty says with a giggle of her own. "Wouldn't be surprised if you two end up going to the dance together.

By the time Lunch rolled around, the group of girls were looking for the 'Mysterious Calvin' and yet all Kathy wanted to do was hide away in her book. But this is high school, who reads at lunch?

"Whatcha got their Kitkat?" Biff says pulling the book out of her hand makes her tense up.

"Give it back Biff." she says standing to grab it.

But Biff is much taller than her and holds it out of her reach. "Frankenstein? Why the hell are you reading this for?" he questions cluelessly.

"Why do you think?" She counters and tries to jump to get the book to no avail. "Give it back!" she demands.

"I'll give it back for a kiss." Biff taunts, wrapping one arm around her waist.

This made her stop and begin pushing at his chest. "Let go. Leave me alone Biff. I just want to read. Leave me alone." she demands, pushing and pushing as he laughs.

"Come on babe, you just gotta give me a little kiss." he teases her as she pushes to get away from him.

"Get your meat hooks off of me and give me my book!" she demands again.

"You heard her, she said get your meat hooks," Marty pauses as Biff lets go and turns his attention to him, "off, uh, please."

"So what's it to you butthead?" Biff says tossing the book on the table with little regard. He grabs Marty's shirt in his fist, "You know you've been lookin' for a..." he pauses, seeing Strickland behind the shorter boy, slowly letting go, "since you're new here, I'm gonna cut you a break, today. So why don't you make like a tree, and get out of here." he says before him and his goons walk away.

"Thank you." Kathy speaks up, hugging her book to her chest.

Marty looks at her and sees just how frazzled she was during that whole thing. "Does he do that alot?" he questions softly.

She nods, "Biff doesn't understand the word 'No'. But it's my own fault, sitting by myself for once. Thought I could get a moment of peace to read." she chuckles, "Guess not."

Marty has always known his mom as a reader. Sitting in the corner of his room when he was young, reading out loud until he was 10 when he stupidly kicked her out saying he doesn't want her reading to him anymore. Now she would read silently in the living room. He is kicking himself for being stupid now knowing she reads to feel at peace. "I can sit with you so that you can read, if you'd like?" he offers.

"Are you sure? I- I won't be much of a chat if I'm reading." she questions, not wanting to be a bother.

"It's fine. You can read around me, no talking needed." he reassures her. And that's how the two sat at the table in silence. Marty sighs silently seeing George had already left the cafeteria, but content that his mom was safe. While Lorraine and their girlfriends giggling seeing the two having lunch together.
