Kathryn is nervous to put it simply. She's sitting in the car with Marty alone as they pulled up to the school. "Do you mind if we park for a while?" he asks her, feeling nervous himself for a different reason.

Her eyes widen, her conversation with Lorrain from earlier comes to mind.

'If he asks you to hang back before going to the dance. Do it, trust me.' Lorraine tells her sister as she curls her hair.

'Why?' she questions curiously.

'Because you'll have the night of your life that's why. Calvin seems like a boy who knows what he's doing. Besides, it'll be your first time... parking with a boy.' she words vaguely not wanting to ruin it for her sister.

Kathy's eyes widen as she looks at her sister in the mirror. 'Is that what you and Betty have been going on about all year?' she questions, having a far to detailed conversation with Betty during a sleepover when Lorriane was sick.

'Yes, but now it's your turn. And you caught the attention of the cute boy Calvin. I think it's your match Kat. Now. Trust. Me. You're practically seventeen, this'll be the night of your life and you will be thanking me.' Lorrain says before spraying her hair before she could protest.

"Oh- uh, sure... That's a great idea." she replies nervously rubbing her hands.

Marty was not expecting her to agree so quickly. "Huh?" he questions.

She glances at him. "Lorraine says that parking with a boy is what I should expect as I'm almost seventeen now." she explains to him seeing his dumbfounded look.

"What?" Marty was not prepared for that.

"You seem nervous." Kathy notices before grabbing her bag, "Here." she says holding a flask out to him.

Marty's eyes go wide. "Kathy, you shouldn't drink." he says, holding the flask in shock.

"I-I don't. But Lorraine said-" she's cut short.

"Stop listening to Lorraine." Marty tells her. "I-I'm sorry but, you shouldn't always listen to your sister. You should listen to your gut. Do what you want to do Kathryn."

She stares at him with wide eyes, "You're right. It's just... difficult. I skipped a grade and being the youngest one in your class is hard. But Lorraine helps me. I wasn't the weird smart girl... I'm just Lorraine's sister... it's easier that way, to just listen to her advice." she admits.

"I didn't know that. I didn't know you skipped a grade. How come you never told me?" he questions, forgetting that he is talking to his mom who doesn't know she was his mom.

She lets out a small laugh, "It's not exactly a conversation starter. Besides, Lorraine thought that you were interested in me so it was something to not put a spotlight on. Rather be the cute girl then the weird girl."

"You're not weird... Wait, so, you're not interested in me?" he hesitantly asks. This is a question he dreaded the response to.

"No. I'm sorry. But I'm not interested in you Marty." she admits, feeling like she could breathe now that she told the truth.

"But you are interested in someone?" he asks, crossing his fingers that she says yes.

"I- I think so. I mean, I asked him to save me a dance cause I was already going with you. But honestly, I was hoping he would ask me when we talked at the diner but, that scuffle with you and Biff happened so Lorraine dragged me away." she explains to him, feeling a lot more relaxed in telling the truth.

"Who?" Marty asks, but he already knows the answer.

Kathy sighs, "George McFly. He's real sweet. I feel comfortable around him. Like I can be the weird smart girl around him. Like how I am with you and reading." She pauses before facing the boy. "Thank you for that by the way, I've had a great week just sitting with you. I bet I was a bore to you."
