Helena woke up and stretched her arms. She rubbed her eyes gently and opened them.
"Good morning, Ma'am. I have got the breakfast ready for you. Please get fresh quickly", Damian greeted her with a sweet smile.
"Morning", Helena said coldly and got up to the loo.
She came out after ten minutes. She frowned as she saw Damian crouching down to pick something.
"What are you doing, Mr. Twist?"
"Oh, Ma'am, I was setting up the weighing machine for you. Sir told me that you are soon entering your fifth month, so we need to start monitoring a healthy weight", Damian said softly.
"I don't want to do anything. Just stop all this stupidity", Helena said coldly.
"Ma'am, I cannot go against his orders. This is my job. I promise it will not make you uncomfortable", he said reassuringly.
"Why can't you understand the meaning of a no", she snapped at him.
"Ma'am, please don't shout. It will cast a negative effect on the baby."
"Aargh, just leave. I am already very stressed, and you are adding more."
"Ma'am, you can share it with me. I promise I will not tell sir. It will help you relax", he suggested.
"Nothing is wrong", Helena said while looking away coldly, knowing that no matter what happened, she could not share the truth with anyone else at that time.
'Another lie. I don't understand why these people lie so much', Damian thought while rubbing his temples.
"Okay, ma'am. Then why don't we talk casually to each other? About our professions, likes and dislikes?"
"Where is Edwin", Helena asked him.
"Oh, Sir has gone for a meeting. He will be back before 4 pm."
Helena took a breath of relief. Knowing that he was not around made her feel safe. She knew that she could not escape in that condition, with a five-month pregnancy. She had to wait, and for that, she had to stay sane. So, she thought to try talking with Damian.
"I guess, I will try", she said while looking down.
"That is great, Ma'am. Please stand on this weighing machine", he said gently.
"So, who all are there in your family, Mr. Damian", she asked him casually while standing on the weighing machine.
"I have my parents and an elder brother. I also have a girlfriend", he said while measuring her weight.
"For how long?"
"A year, Ma'am."
"Long distance or within this city?"
"Here only, Ma'am. We live together in my apartment. And here is your weight. It's a little underweight of what it should be at five months, but not of much concern right now. A healthy diet along with essential exercise will cover it soon enough. Let's go to the dining table", he said with a smile.
Both of them walked to the dining room. A covered pot was kept on the table.
"Have a seat, Ma'am", Damian said as he pulled out a chair for her.
"Thank you. You know, you don't have to call me Ma'am. You can call me Helena", she said while looking down.
"No no Ma'am. I cannot call you by your name", he said hesitantly.
"It is fine, really. It feels weird to be addressed like that. I would not even allow the interns at the firm to call me Ma'am", she said with a calm smile.
"If you are insisting so much, then fine. But not in front of Sir. He will kill me", Damian giggled.
"Okay, sure", she said with a light smile.
"See? You are already smiling and talking happily, even after feeling bad because of the argument with Edwin Sir", Damian said softly.
Helena's smile dropped.
'I wish it was just an argument, Damian', she thought while looking away.
"What happened Ma'am- I mean, Helena?"
"Nothing", she said with a fake smile. "You remind me of someone", she lied.
"Really? Who", he asked excitedly, clearly seeing through all her lies.
"An intern", she said with a light smile.
'Wow! You are quite good at lying. I almost did not catch you', Damian thought while nodding.
"Helena, I think you should eat now. The food will get cold", Damian said and opened the lid of the pot.
The smell got everywhere, making Helena feel nauseous. Damian covered her nose with a handkerchief tightly. She struggled against him, not understanding what he was trying to do. After some time, he pulled away the handkerchief.
"What were you trying to do", she asked while breathing heavily.
"It was dipped in rubbing alcohol. Do you feel nauseous now", he asked her gently.
"Wow, I do not feel nauseous anymore. Where did you learn this", she asked him, feeling surprised at his knowledge.
"I learned the basic skills last night so that I can be a better caretaker", he smiled softly.
"Thank you so much. You are a lifesaver. Morning sickness was very bad for me", she said with a light smile.
"My pleasure, Helena. Now, please eat this porridge. I have made sure that the cooks use all the veggies that can help you get stronger and have an easy and comfortable pregnancy. Are you taking prenatal supplements", he asked her.
"I was, but did not take them for the last two days", she said while looking down.
"Why?"
"My mood was off because of the argument, and I forgot", she lied.
"Hmm. That is okay. But please make sure not to skip the supplements anymore", he said gently.
After having breakfast, Damian led her to the garden.
"Fresh air and exposure to a little sunlight is necessary for you. This will help to release happy hormones, and you will gradually feel better. We have to sit ten minutes in the sun and then we will sit in the shade under the tree."
"Okay."
After sitting in the Sun, he led her to the tree. He spread a mat on the grass and gestured for her to sit with him on the mat.
"Sit with legs crossed. That will help your pelvis to relax and widen. We will sit here for twenty minutes and then go back inside."
"Okay. So, Damian, how are you able to make time for your girlfriend", Helena asked curiously.
"Usually I try to give her time after the evening every day. The weekends are only for her most of the time, and sometimes for my parents. Nowadays, I'm not able to give her a lot of time Still, I try to text her whenever I get a little bit of time", he said with a soft smile.
"That is good. So, you won't be meeting her anytime soon?"
"No, Helena. I will be staying here with you for the next four months. Maybe on weekends, I can go home while Edwin Sir is here to take care of you. He cares for you a lot, you know. You both should resolve the conflict", he advised.
She looked down silently.
"Helena, if you don't mind me asking, I don't feel like this is just a normal conflict. It feels something more serious, am I right?"
"No. We just fought", she said coldly while looking away.
"You don't have to lie to me. I know that something is wrong, and I want to help you. I give you my word that all your talks, each one of them, will not reach any other person", he assured.
"No, I am not lying. Nothing is wrong", she said as she took his phone and opened the notes to type something.
She handed him the phone to read what she typed.
'Stay quiet and do not ask this again. It is something very serious, Damian. And I cannot tell you about it so easily. We are probably being heard.'
