Andrew wouldn't stop talking to me. There was one free seat next to me, and when Andrew saw us take seats, he moved to sit next to me. We never talked a lot, and truthfully, I had no desire to be his sudden college friend. So, when he suddenly showed his interest in me and asked about me, I began to question his true goals.

Even Alice didn't like him. She often says that there's something off about him. But I never paid too much attention to him.

When the lecture ended and I packed my stuff, Alice dragged Andrew away from me, telling him that she had something to say to him. I wasn't sure why she did that, but Ember's voice resonated throughout the lecture hall, and I had to stop my legs from moving.

"Ms. Campbell, you stay," Ember said.

I sighed, and I slowly walked down the stairs. Ember returned to her desk, and I observed her ass and thighs. She looked like a true goddess. Her blue shirt complimented her skin and hair, and I never saw her wear a better color.

I stopped before the desk because I wanted to keep a distance between us. When she spun to me, she eyed my figure like she always does, and I never hated it until now. She then leaned against the edge of the desk and folded her arms under her chest.

As quickly as her eyes found mine, I focused my gaze rather on the ground. She chuckled in a taunting way, and I immediately frowned at her.

"Was that guy your boyfriend?" She asked in a low, irritated tone.

"No, I barely know him." I quickly responded and sighed. "Was this the reason you called me here? Because if that's all, I have to leave for my second class."

Ember's hand slammed the table, and it startled me.

"You won't leave this room until you hear everything I have to say, Dove." Her eyes narrowed.

I swallowed hard and nodded. I moved closer to her, but not too close. When I studied her face, she looked so in pain. And I didn't understand how she could be when she dumped me out of nowhere, not the other way around.

Mother is still asking whether we had a disagreement or something, and I constantly tell her that we didn't. When she asked about her, it was difficult for me not to cry.

"You're making untrue assumptions about me. If you'd listened to me last week, you would know why I was acting this way toward you." She said.

My eyebrow rose. "Go on, then, explain it to me." I folded my arms.

She took a deep breath and started speaking. "I know that the way I behaved toward you last week was unacceptable. I was definitely too harsh, and I gave you no explanation for my behavior. But when I learned that the job I had been seeking since the day I ended college was given to me and you were going to be one of my students, I simply panicked."

Ember leaned off the table and headed towards me. "I got scared that if someone was about to find out what kind of relationship we two had, I would be fired, and no one would ever hire me again as a professor." Her hands slipped inside her pants pockets, as she stopped two meters from me.

I knew this was her biggest dream. She always loved to help people, and now she wanted to be something more than just a tutor. Had a real career.

I hugged myself and turned my eyes away. "You could've explained this to me last week instead of telling me nothing at all," I whispered, and a tear rolled down my cheek.

As I glanced at her a lopsided smile appeared on her face, and her hand reached for my falling tear. "Oh, Dove, I'm so incredibly sorry I made you feel like some toy to me. I know we agreed to have fun, but I never treated you like a prostitute or anything close to that. I actually began to like you the more time we spent together, and I really wanted to get to know you better. I'm such a fool."
