I hurried out of the school, quickly waiting for the cars to pass at the crosswalk just to get to the other side of the street.

Alice helped me talk to Ms. Clark before the lesson started, and I was taken aback by her kindness.

"I apologize for my rudeness. I know you have a class now, and I shouldn't be taking your time, but it is about Ms. Moore." I whispered her name so no one would hear it in the hall.

"It's totally okay. You don't need to apologize, and I know who you are." Ms. Clark smirked at me. "My dear friend told me about you. You managed to turn her head into chaos, and she's one of the only people I know who doesn't get so easily off her track."

I cleared my throat and felt the blood rushing to my cheeks. "Oh, I had no idea she told you about me."

She whispered, "Oh, she did. She never talked about anyone the way she did about you. She truly likes you, and I thought she would end up alone for the rest of her life." She giggled.

"I'll be happy to help you." Ms. Clark added.

I looked around to see that no one was listening to our conversation. "I have to talk to her, but in person, and I have no idea where she lives, so I was wondering if you could tell me her address," I asked, hesitant.

She simply smiled at me and revealed to me that Ember lives right across the college, on the first floor of flat 213. I thanked her at least a million times, and before I left, she gently squeezed my shoulder.

"I have to thank you. I've never seen Ember so happy. Full of life. Before, she was so alone, and every time I set up a date for her, it never worked out. But you...you're perfect for her." She smiled at me, and I did as well.

"You're too kind to me. Ember doesn't seem to know this, but she saved me. So, hearing this makes my heart full. Thank you again." I said.

I walked down the street to her place. I showed up in front of her door and waited until my pulse calmed down to knock at the door.

I was ready for her to slam the door right in front of my face or curse at me. Anything but her yearning eyes as they landed on mine when she opened the door swiftly. She must have seen me because of the peephole.

"Dove...what-what are you doing here?" She asked, and her brows drew together. My eyes dropped to her outfit, and she was wearing a simple, oversized white T-shirt and gray sweatpants. She had no bra underneath it, so I perfectly saw her hardened nipples.

I took a deep breath and barged through the door, shutting them after. I quickly took steps into the living room and stopped in the middle of the room. I could feel Ember's eyes stabbing into my back, but I chose not to face her.

"Do you have a fever? Did you take some medication?" I asked.

"Why are you—"

"Ember, I know you're sick, and it's only my fault," I said and turned around.

Her cheeks were red like a tomato, and sweat dripped off her forehead. She looked extremely exhausted and weary.

I immediately hurried to her and grabbed her by the wrist.

"Where is your bedroom?" My eyebrow arched.

She blinked multiple times and stammered, "That way." She pointed to the door to the right.

I dragged her to her room and laid her down on the bed. Her bedroom was pretty simple. White walls, minimalistic dark wood furniture, and a bed in the corner of it.
