I rub my arms nervously, it was the night of the concert, and I'd gotten the solo. I felt like I was gonna pass out.

We were all standing in the boiling room full of about fifty kids, everyone was talking, messing around, just doing weird stuff in general.

Then Velvet walks in, with Veneer close behind.

He was in choir?! Holy shit.

My anxiety increased. I felt like I was gonna topple right over then and there. I hadn't even realized that, weather he was in choir or not, I was going to have to sing in front of him. With Velvet being his sister and all.

Oh good Lord, HELP!

...

We sang the first three songs, "Blue Skys", "Beyond The Sea", and "Fayo."

Then, we started singing Grenade, and it turned out that Veneer sings the beginning of it.

"Easy come, easy go. That's just how you live oh! Take, take. Take it all. But you never give! Should'a known, you was trouble from the first kiss. You had your eyes wide open. Why were they open?" His voice was so angelic.

We sang the rest of the song, then we had to sing "It Will Rain".

The song I had my solo in.

Oh God.

It was coming close to the part where I had to walk up to the microphone and sing in front of what looked like a million people.

I step off the risers. I was ready to faint.

I lock eyes with Orchid, who was conveniently sitting in the front.

I pretended that it was just her sitting in the croud. Just my younger sister.

I sing my solo.

I don't faint.

I walk up the risers like nothing happened.

Veneer's perspective:

Oh my God. Does this boy have a single flaw?!!!!!! I wondered.  He's artistically talented, LOOKS like a freaking peice of artwork, is literally one of the nicest guys I know, AND HE CAN SING!? MY GOD! I'm so freaking gay, Lord please help me!

I just stood there and sang the rest of the song in a daze.

When Mr. Bubble announced the end of the concert, I walked up to my mom and dad, Velvet following.

They say that we did good, and after that we went and got Chinese food and headed home. Now, I lay on my bed starring at my phone screen trying to figure out weather or not I should text Ritz and ask him about the concert. In the end, I fell asleep. I didn't have school tomorrow but I was just so tired.

I woke up the next morning to the doorbell ringing.
