** 3rd Person **

"They'll be alright." The Sheriff makes her way to the boys.

"What's happening? Is Caroline alright?" Matt rushes to ask her.

"There was some internal bleeding; they're taking her into surgery."

"What else did they say? Is she going to be okay?"

"They're gonna do everything they can." She says trying to hold it together for the broken boy in front of her.

"What about Sapphire?" Tyler asks, getting a confused look.

"She was in the accident too? Oh, god. Did anyone call Damon?" She asks, holding a hand up to her mouth.

"I think they tried but got no answer." Matt says.

"Okay, okay that's not great. Uhm Tyler, have you talked to your mom?"

"I left her a message telling her I was here." He says while shaking his head.

"You need to call her."

"What is it? I want to stay until I know if Saph is okay."

"...It's your dad." He steps out to call his mother, finding out that his father was dead. He soon walks back to where Matt was, feeling like he was in a daze.

"Ty? Are you okay?"

"They can't die, I can't lose her man." Tyler says before tears cloud his vision.

"She's gonna be okay. You really care about her don't you?" Matt asks while placing a hand on Tyler's shoulder. 

"I think I love her. More than a friend should and I know she doesn't feel the same."

Before their conversation could go anywhere else Damon rushes into the hospital.

"Where is she? Where's my kid?!" He yells at the nurses not noticing the slip of tongue he made.

"Damon, I'm-I'm so sorry." Tyler sputters out when he sees him.

"You! I'm gonna kill you!" Damon rushes at him but a nurse stops him saying she can take him to Sapphire.

Glaring at the teen one more time he follows the nurse to the recovery unit.

"She is lucky to be alive. Multiple broken bones and fractures that will take a while to heal. They had to do surgery and close some wounds that cut deep into her. All the internal bleeding is gone now. I won't lie, the recovery is going to be rough for her. She'll be lucky if she can walk right once her leg is healed. It's all up to her now." The nurse fills Damon in as he slowly makes his way into her room to sit next to her.

Bonnie sits with Matt in the waiting room as Caroline hasn't been assigned a room.

The Sheriff makes her way down the hall to Sapphire's room. She softly knocks on the door seeing Damon through the small window.

"Damon, how is she?" She softly asks, coming to stand next to the man.

"Not good. How's Caroline?"

"She's still in surgery, they keep saying they're doing everything they can."

"No one else is allowed in here, I don't want to see that kid." Damon says venomously.

"He went home a few minutes ago. His father is dead. They thought he was a vampire and put him in the basement."

"Mayor Lockwood was a vampire?"

"No, no. A mistake was made, they said he dropped like the others when John's device went off but he.. He couldn't have been a vampire, I've known the man my whole life and now Carol Lockwood is gonna want answers and all I can think of right now is Caroline and..." She starts crying, breaking down in front of Damon who stands up to hug her.

Once she leaves the room Damon steps out hearing Elena and Bonnie talking about Caroline's condition.

He overhears Bonnie telling Elena that the doctors aren't sure if Caroline is going to make it or not.

"Is there something that you can do? Like a spell or something?" Elena asks her best friend with tears streaming down her face.

"She doesn't know how, do you?" Damon says now standing by them.

"No, I don't." Bonnie admits.

"No, you don't because it took Emily years to learn a spell like that."

"Well I can take down a vampire, that spell was easy to learn."

"I can give Caroline some blood." Damon offers. He would do the same for Sapphire but there would be no way to explain broken bones healing like that and she would live, unlike Caroline who most likely won't make it through the night.

"No, no way. Is that what you did for Sapphire?" Elena says, shaking her head.

"No, she doesn't want it and surprisingly she'll live unlike Blondie. It's just enough to heal her. She will be safe in the hospital and it will be out of her system in a day, she will be better, Elena." Damon tries to reason with her. He knew if Saph was awake she'd want them to do whatever it takes to save her new best friend.

"It's too risky, I can't agree to that."

"Do it. This is Caroline, we can't let her die. Do it." Bonnie finally decides for Elena.

"If I do this, you and I call a truce?" Damon suggests.

"No, but you'll do it anyway, for Elena and for Sapphire." Bonnie saw how close the girls seemed now and how much Damon actually cared about Elena.

"I know this is probably the last thing you want to do right now but we should talk about what happened tonight." Damon says now that Bonnie had left to go peak on Sapphire who was still unconscious in her room.

"Yeah one of the tomb vampires got into the house and almost killed John."

"What? When? What are you talking about? After I left?"

"You were there?" Elena asks confused as to what he means.

"Come on, Elena, you know I was."

"When were you at the house?"

It doesn't take much more conversation before Damon realizes Katherine must be in town and has been invited into the Gilbert house, posing as Elena.

Damon makes his way out of the hospital after checking on Sapphire to find Stefan and let him know that Katherine was back. Elena joins him saying Stefan stayed to watch Jeremy after his attempted suicide.

Damon spilled that he had kissed Katherine thinking it was Elena which angered Stefan. Trying to figure out what she wants other than to annoy them Damon says he's just going to ignore her before he starts to walk out of the house.

"Damon, wait. How is Sapphire?" Stefan asks him as he steps onto the porch closing the front door behind him.

"She almost died today and I was busy kissing Katherine." Damon hisses, more angry at himself than anyone else.

"Did you give her some blood?"

"No, you know she doesn't want that. She broke a lot of bones and her recovery is going to piss her off." Damon says letting out a dry laugh before clearing his face of emotions.

"I'll visit her tom-"

"No! You stay the hell away from her!" Damon snaps jabbing his finger into his brother's chest.

Before Stefan can say anything else Damon vamps away to be by his niece's side. Hoping she hadn't woken up yet.

Thankfully she was still asleep meaning he could sit beside her until she was ready to wake up. Damon ended up sleeping in the uncomfortable pull out bed all night waiting.
