I woke up earlier than usual due to the cold. I realized that I had slept on the balcony, I sighed, there was no use going back to sleep, so I just laid on my bed staring at my ceiling until I heard Lisa come in.

"Oh, you're awake already? How." She asked surprised, I just sighed,
"I don't know, I just woke up." I said getting up from the bed. I didn't tell her I slept on the balcony while talking to my parents because she would tell Aunt Margaret, who will then tell Sebastian, I just didn't want all of them to get worried.
"Oh well, that's good, I'll just leave you to it, have a nice day your highness."
"Have a nice day too Lisa." I said with a smile.

I went to the kitchen to have breakfast earlier than usual, and I was stunned to see everyone working twice as hard, woah, what's going on? Is it someone's birthday or something?

"Good morning Leo, what's going on?" He sent me a small smile before going back to what he was cooking,
"Good morning Aliyah, the young Prince has asked us to make a big breakfast."
"Why?"
"Well, he said he wanted his wife's first breakfast in the kingdom to be a memorable one, ordering that every single breakfast item be made." Leo said with a bit of annoyance. I didn't blame him though, breakfast on a normal day was large, imagine making it extra large just because of one person? I scoffed

"Well, I didn't forget you Aliyah, your croissants are over there." He said and immediately the scowl on my face turned to a very bright smile,
"Thank you so much Leo, I'll get out of your hair now." I heard him and the others laugh but I didn't care, the croissants were calling me.

The head of the Army was training me today, sigh, don't get me wrong, General. Marcus and I got along pretty fine but just like Sebastian, he makes my training seem like a punishment.
"You look excited, Aliyah."
"Oh, I am general, I am beaming with joy." He let out a small laugh
"Anyways I have good news for you today." Now that's what I like to hear, I looked at him waiting for him to continue,
"Instead of training today, we are going to ride around the kingdom, you'll be coming with me to check the security of the kingdom." I jumped for Joy when he finished,
"Can we leave now?" I asked excited, and he nodded in response. Without wasting anymore time, I got on Faye and together we rode out of the kingdom.

I hardly ever left the palace gates, and when I did, I never wandered too far, so this felt like a whole new experience for me, it's been ages since I went to the villages. I couldn't keep the smile off my face as I thought about it but soon my smile turned to a frown when I saw how the people looked.
They looked lifeless, drained and tired, my heart clenched at the sight of them. What happened? I don't remember the people looking so dead, they used to be full of Joy.

"General, why do they look so lifeless?" I asked, my voice laced with sadness,
"I don't know Aliyah, like you I am very confused on what's going on." I got down from my horse and decided to walk around a bit, I hadn't even gone far when I felt a tug on my cape, I looked down and I saw a girl not more than 5 years looking at me. I bent down to her level so I could talk to her well,
"Hi, what's your name?" I asked hoping my voice was calm enough so as not to scare the poor girl,
"Meera" she replied so quietly I barely caught it,
"Meera, where are your parents? Why are you here alone?" She looked at me with tears in her eyes and I was really worried now, did I say something wrong?
"I don't know." She said, her voice quivering. I couldn't help but see myself in that little girl, I probably won't even have made it to the age of 10 without Sebastian.

"General, I think we need to drop her off at an orphanage, she seems to have lost her parents." He nodded and together we found an orphanage for the poor girl.

We decided to walk around and find out anything we could do we could deliver it to the king. It turns out the scarcity of food was taking it's toll on the people, they barely had enough to eat and were doing their best to survive. We stayed and spoke to the people for a while before heading back to the Palace. I had to hurry to the courtroom as per the kings request, I could barely focus on anything, I was still shocked with how fast the famine was coming and we weren't even close to finding a solution.
