Anthony's POV
A part of me didn't want to go through with the plan, the girl, she doesn't deserve any of this. I didn't want to drag her into my messed up life but I ran out of options.
It was the wedding day of the king's nephew. The perfect time to carry out the plan, everyone will be too busy to notice anything odd."What are you thinking about?" William asked me,
"The plan." I answered briefly,
"What about it? Don't you like her? Isn't she queen material?"
"She is William, she's perfect for the role if I must say but once we get back to Greenfield, the nice me will be gone, you and I both know that this is all a facade."
"So what do you want to do?"
"I don't know."
"Look, I know you would rather not do this but you don't really have a choice. Aliyah, she's perfect, I do not want to do this to her but maybe she'll understand right? All I'm trying to say is, it's either your throne or nothing. Aliyah is my friend, I know you won't hurt her in any way, that's why I'm helping you."
"You're right. Let's go ahead with the plan."William is right, I should stick to the plan now, I can worry about other things later, but now we follow what we planned, 'William tells the King and Sebastian that I want to speak to them, I propose the idea of forming an alliance through marriage which will help them with the famine." Now that I say it all over again in my head, it doesn't make much sense. Why did father have to do this? Why didn't he just give me what rightfully belonged to me?
I don't know how long I stood in the Courtroom for but I was brought out of my thoughts by the Opening of the door, showtime!
"Who are you?" The arrogant voice of the king resonated in the quiet hall, I said nothing, they couldn't recognize me, my face was covered with a mask,
"Do you not know how to speak?" The king asked once again, this time I looked at him and moved my eyes to Sebastian who stood there with a calculating look on his face,"Young man if you do not speak, I will have you thrown out of my kingdom this instant." I chuckled at the sound of that, it seemed to have caught him by surprise. I didn't have much time to dwell on his expressions, I walked to the throne in the courtroom and sat on it,
"What nonsense is this? Are you out of your mind? Sebastian, call the guards and have them throw this fool out." Sebastian was about to leave when I spoke up,"Oh I wouldn't do that if I were you."
"Pardon?"
"I mean think of it, your kingdom is practically falling bit by bit and you want to throw your only hope out of your kingdom? Not so wise for a king."
"Who are you young man. This is the last time I'm going to ask you this."
"Me? Oh forgive my manners, I am the heir to the Greenfield throne."Their faces lost all forms of colour, they looked as pale as a ghost if I have ever seen one, a little bit of Joy spread throughout my body knowing I had this kind of effect on people,
"What nonsense are you spouting, the first Prince of Greenfield has never set foot outside his kingdom, how then can you be him?"
"Believe me or not, that's up to you. I am here with a proposal for you."
"What are-"
"Listen first then ask questions later, please. As I was saying, I know your kingdom is suffering from severe famine and if it continues your subjects will probably die in the weeks that follow and I am here to be your saviour. I want to form an alliance with the Kingdom of Arenda."
"What?! Really? You want to marry my daughter? Oh that is wonderful, of course-" What? His daughter? Oh definitely not,"Oh no no no, I think you have it all wrong. I do not want your daughter."
" If you do not wish to marry my daughter, how then do you wish to form an alliance?"
"If I am not mistaken, the Kingdom of Arenda has two princesses, I want the second one. Princess Aliyah."
"That is definitely not happening!" Sebastian shouted,
This only put a smirk on my face, finally, so he can actually speak,"Why do you oppose Sebastian?"
"There is no way I am going to let my Aliyah marry someone like you. Thank you for your offer but we reject the alliance."
"Is that what you really want?"
"Yes-"
"Oh well, if that's the case, I guess I'll just tell her the truth." I said with a smirk on my face, his body went rigid,
"What are you talking about?"
"You know very well, what I'm talking about. You both know what I am talking about. Since you have refused, I simply want to have a word with princess Aliyah and tell her the truth."
"You will do no such thing."
"And who are you to question me?" He looked shocked, probably not expecting me to reply,
"Listen, I'm trying to help your kingdom, I'm trying to help you. You don't have to worry about the well-being of Aliyah, she will be well taken care of, she will be treated just like a queen would in my kingdom."They looked like they were considering it, I didn't have all day. The wedding reception had already started by now.
"You have until I step out of this room to make up your mind." They went to a corner and started discussing it, I sighed, stood up and started walking towards the door,
"Fine."
"Pardon?"
"We will comply on one condition."
"Which is?"
"You must never tell Aliyah."
"As long as she doesn't force it out of me, no problem."
"You don't worry about that, she will never find out."
"If you say so Sebastian. If you say so."I left the room without turning back. The reception was drawing to an end, so I decided to head back to my room and rest. I made sure no one was following me, I didn't want them finding out who I was now. I got to my room and tried getting some rest, just as I was about falling asleep, my door barged open. I looked up and noticed Aliyah standing at the door with her ear pressed towards the door, what is she doing here? I stared at her for some time, she was very beautiful, if only the situation was different,
"Do you just randomly barge into strangers rooms?" I asked her and she shrieked very loudly, I bit back my smile and put on a straight face,
"Oh I'm so sorry, I was trying to hide from someone and I just randomly barged into this room, I didn't think it was occupied which is very stupid of me. I just ran into the room, you could've been very busy or even naked. Oh dear that would've been horrible-" who could she possibly be running from?
"Do you also ramble and talk a lot without giving other people the chance to talk?" I asked her, she opened her mouth and closed it back, she looked like a fish while doing so,cute"Oh, hope you were able to resolve the urgent issues and problems you had?" She said out of the blue, issues? What urgent problems?
"Urgent problems?"
"Yes, William said you couldn't attend the wedding because you had some problems to attend to." Of all the excuses, he just had to tell her that, how am I going to reply now?"Oh yeah, I was able to resolve those. If you don't mind me asking why and who were you running from?"
It seemed like my question brought back unwanted memories because immediately the smile on her face vanished, she looked broken, defeated and distressed but underneath all that, I could see determination and courage, I wanted to know why she barged into my room, if she's in danger I should know, she is going to be my wife after all,
"It's nothing. I'm sorry for barging into your room, I'll talk my leave now." She didn't even give me a chance to reply before running out of my room, I only sighed and laid back on the bed. I had to wake up extremely early tomorrow because I would be leaving for Greenfield to make arrangements for my Queen.
