Aliyah's POV
I barely slept at all, I was up before the first rays of sunlight lit up the sky, it was my birthday today, unlike previous years I wasn't happy, I wasn't even feeling anything at all. It seemed like everything in my life was going south, nothing seemed to be going right at all, day after day it gets worse. I'm really starting to believe this is a punishment for some mistakes I committed in my past life, I must've killed someone for my life to be this terrible, I thought losing both my parents on the same day was the worst that could happen, now I'm being given off to marriage to a man I know nothing off, I'm going to spend the rest of my life with a man I do not love.

I have always hoped for the day I get to be with someone I love, someone who would make me feel loved, someone I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life with, without having doubts but like everything else, that is nothing but a dream.

A knock on my door brought me out of thoughts, I wiped my tears and put on a stoic face,
"Who is it?"
"Princess Aliyah, it's Mabel." Mabel was one of my maids,
"Come in."
"Princess, I was told to give this to you." She said, and I noticed she had something in her hands, it looked like a box.
"What is that?
"I'm afraid I have no idea."
"That's fine, just place it on the table and you may leave." She looked like she had more to say,
"What else?"
"Uhh- the King has asked that you be present for breakfast with the rest of the Royal family."
"I won't be joining them, you may leave."
"But princess-"
"I said I won't be joining them! Leave now!" I screamed at her and she fearfully hurried out of my room.

I placed my head In my palms and willed myself not to cry, I looked up snd noticed the box, i wasnt goinv to oprn it but my curiosuty glt the best of me. I opened the box and found an outfit and a smaller box? I held the outfit up and it was the most beautiful training suit I had ever seen, who was this from? I placed the suit down and picked the smaller box, it resembled a jewellery box, I couldn't help but get a bit excited while opening it. I gasped when I opened it, the box had a diamond necklace, I noticed a note in the box,

'Dear Aliyah,
Happy birthday to you, I know we haven't formally and officially met yet but I just had to get you a gift for your special day. I really hope you liked the gifts and there's many more waiting for you for when you arrive.

I was shocked, how did he know? Why did he get me all this? I felt my heart flutter a bit, maybe he's not as bad as I imagined him to be in my head, maybe this marriage be that bad. I felt my mood lighten significantly, and with a smile on my face I decided to freshen up and have something for breakfast.

"Good morning Leo." I greeted as soon as I entered the kitchen,
"Ah good morning Aliyah, Happy birthday to you."
"Thank you Leo. So any birthday croissant?" He laughed at my statement,
"Unfortunately all the croissants and breakfast have benn sent to the dining room." He said apologetically,
"So I really have to join them for dinner huh?"
"I'm afraid so Aliyah."

I sighed and made my way to the dining room. The room went quiet the moment I walked in,  'guess I have that effect huh',
"I thought you weren't joining us today." The King asked,
"I didn't plan to. I didn't have much of a choice." Breakfast continued as usual until,
"Where did you get that from?" Catalina asked,
"What?" I asked confused,
"That necklace. How did you get it?"
"Oh, my husband to be gave it to me as a birthday gift."
"What?!"
"He gave it to me as a birthday gift Sebastian, what part of that do you not understand?"
"I thought your birthday wasn't until tomorrow." He said confused, I felt my heart break a little, he didn't even remember my birthday,
"Well, I wouldn't expect you to remember. You seem to have more important things on your mind lately. If you would excuse me, I seem to have lost my appetite."

I walked out of the dining room without looking back despite my name being called.
