Scene opens up to Echo in her bed and Dianne asleep on the floor, the
spotlight is on the bed in the middle as Nick is creeping up to the two
unsuspected.
NICK: (yelling to scare the two) GET UP IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL
Dianne and Echo both jump up and look around frantically while Nick starts
laughing, Dianne throws a pillow at Nick
NICK: H-hey owww that hurt
DIANNE: (in a tired voice) You're such a baby, give me like 2 more minutes
ECHO: Yeah two more minutes
The two lie back down in sync
Nick annoyed goes to whisper in Echos ear
NICK: Echo don't you have school today?
Echo jumps out of bed while accidentally hitting Nick
ECHO: THAT'S RIGHT TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT
Nick exits stage as Dianne watches Echo get ready, Dianne is visibly tired
and Echo starts talking to her while continues to get ready
ECHO: Hey Dianne are you ok? You look kinda tired
DIANNE: oh yes honey I'm ok, I just had a rough night because SOMEBODY couldn't decide what movie to watch.
NICK (from offstage): I CAN HEAR YOU, AND WHERE IS MY FAVORITE MUG?!?!
DIANNE: I DON'T KNOW MAYBE YOU SHOULD KEEP BETTER TRACK OF YOUR STUFF!!
NICK: WHATEVER JUST CALL ME IF YOU NEED ME
Echo sits beside Dianne with her bag ready to go
ECHO: Are you guys always like this?
DIANNE: Like what?
ECHO: Like this loud and stuff all the time
DIANNE: I mean I suppose so it's just the way we are, why do you ask
ECHO: Well because every time you guys yell or scream or argue it's really annoying and it makes it hard to focused cause I'm always in my head
DIANNE: I'm sorry sweets
Alarm goes off
ECHO: What was that alarm for?
NICK comes running in and out of breath
NICK: THAT WAS FOR THE BUS YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE TO SCHOOL!!
DIANNE: I'M SO SORRY I DISTRACTED YOU
Echo runs around getting all her stuff for school and runs offstage as the
spotlight slowly fads away and Nick and Dianne exit stage. Echo moves the
bed off stage and comes back onstage as if she's walking to her school
while a song plays and she dancing with the music. After a bit a ominous
voice is heard.
NICK (in a scary voice): What did you forget, you forgot something, you don't have everything.
ECHO: (visual worried) I don't know, I thought I grab everything, there a chance I didn't but I'm sure-
Spotlight goes on, and Nick continues Echos sentence while Dianne is
pacing in the background
NICK: -sure you got everything, but there's a good chance you didn't you could have forgotten your phone or your pencil or
As Nick is talking Echo is stressing out and Dianne and Echo are checking
her bag
NICK: or your computer, there's so many things you could have forgotten
DIANNE AND ECHO: YOU'RE NOT HELPING
DIANNE: Ok just go through your morning routine and try to remember
ECHO: I got up and ran to get ready to go I grabbed my lunch and bag- (happy) WHICH I PACKED YESTERDAY AND I KNOW I PACKED EVERYTHING LAST NIGHT
Spot light leave and scene goes back to normal as Echo walks offstage
