The Last Chapter.....
The knock on the front door signified that the uncles were here. Jett was about to yell through the door but Simon stopped him. "The baby could be sleeping!"
Vin sighed. "I can't wait to see him!"
Jett smiled as he knocked. "The uncles are here, open up!"
Chuck laughed as he opened the door. "Come in. The baby is in the kitchen with Alex!"
Vin chuckled. "Hilarious!" He hugged Chuck. "Can I hold him!" He was crazy about babies.
Chuck nodded and walked to the kitchen. "Manny, they're here to take the baby!"
Manny chuckled. "Babysitters!" He teased as he handed the baby to Chuck. "Morning!" He hugged both men and then Vin. "Are you holding Alex?"
Vin nodded. "Hell yes!"
Jett hit the back of his head. "Mouth! Not around the baby!"
Simon just tried to hide his chuckle. "I think I should get to hold him first! Chuck took a boulder for me so I feel like we are the closest!"
Chuck laughed. "Fair enough!" He handed Alex to Simon as Jett and Vin complained. Simon smiled at the bundle in his arms. "Hello, Alex. It's so good to meet you! You are going to be sooo spoiled!" He kissed the baby.
Jett got to hold the baby as they sat in the living room and talked. He smiled at Alex as Alex watched him. He was awake. "Hey, gorgeous!" He smiled at the baby. "I'm going to teach you how to treat a woman... or a man! We don't judge in this family! Right! No judgments!" The baby giggled and they all cooed over him.
Vin finally got Alex in his arms. "Hey! I am going to teach you so much about food! You think this baby formula is amazing, but wait until you have steak and baked potatoes! You are going to love it. Oh, I can make you pancakes and eggs! I make killer eggs and my grandpa... we can share him... he makes some killer food!" He smiled as he talked about Simon's dad.
"Wait until they get a hold of you! You are going to be so spoiled! They spoiled me and I got here when I was fourteen. You are going to have a lot more time to get spoiled!" Vin smiled as Alex watched him as he chewed on his fist. "You'll never want to eat your own hand again!" He chuckled at the baby.
Manny smiled at them. "Tell your mom and dad thanks for being patient. We will get there to visit with Alex in a couple months."
Jett smiled. "They know and they're waiting. It's good to wait for a few months before taking the baby out into public. Get his immune system built up first and they are fine. I mean Mom is dying to meet him but.. They are waiting!"
Chuck smiled. "It's nice. Oh! Manny's mom is coming up next month! She wants to have dinner with everyone."
Jett was Jett. "Fuck yes! I love her and oh, we talked the other day. She rocks! She was worried about you guys and wanted our opinion about how you guys were!"
Chuck shook his head. "Like we were lying!"
Manny laughed. "She's always done that and she's happy that I have friends!" He had been alone for far too long.
"Hey, don't you have another little kid running around here somewhere?" Jett smirked. He loved to tease Sabrina.
Sabrina bounced into the room in the cutest dress with socks that matched. "Don't worry, I have arrived!" She pushed her hair back in a very Manny-like way. She was so much like him.
Jett just chuckled. "Princess, how are you? Do you think we should keep this little monster?" He nodded to the baby.
Sabrina chuckled. "I just love Alex! He's funny when he smiles!" She was a good big sister. "How are you, Uncle Jett?"
Jett smiled. "Great! I'm married to him!" He pointed to Simon and winked at Sabrina.
Sabrina laughed. "I'm old enough to know that he's a catch! Right, Dad!" She turned to Chuck.
Chuck shook his head at their conversation. "Where did we go wrong with you?" He teased as Alex got passed to Jett.
Sabrina sat on Manny's lap as they talked about their California family. Sabrina had met those grandparents and talked with them a lot. She knew they weren't her real grandparents but they spent time on video chats with her so they were family to her. They loved her and she knew that was what mattered.
Manny got drinks for everyone and as he walked in with the tray of drinks, he realized how much his life had changed since that horrible day.
He never thought that he could be happy but he was. He had his husband and their growing family. He had Vin and Simon and their son. He never imagined he would have friends. He figured that Chuck would have friends that he would be acquainted with but these guys were his friends. They cared about him and loved him and worried about him.
Manny sat. "Guys, I can't be thankful enough. Thanks for being so great to me even when I'm crazy!"
Simon smiled. "Welcome and Manny, we are all crazy just in different ways... it's okay. We are friends and we can adjust." He shrugged. "And anytime you need a sitter to stay in and cuddle, just call us."
Jett nodded. "Absolutely. You don't have to 'go out' to need a sitter! We don't want to pressure you or make you think that you have to... you get it."
Manny chuckled and leaned into Chuck. "Guys, thanks!" He wiped a tear. "I'm so emotional with this new baby!"
Chuck laughed. "You were emotional before the babies!"
Manny glared at his husband as Jett agreed. He still had work to do on himself and he would probably never be completely normal for others, but he was normal for himself. As long as he was okay with himself, he knew that Chuck would be okay.
"So, we'll be okay?" Manny leaned into Chuck to ask quietly.
Chuck kissed Manny's cheek. "We will be okay."
