There is so much more to magic than just waving wands and saying funny words. That's something that was ingrained in the boys since they were little. As they are a part of the Black family, they have always been interested in exploring ancient magic and where it comes from.
That's why they believe that History of Magic is one of the most underrated subjects to learn. Having a professor as their godfather, they had heard stories of how the class was conducted at Hogwarts for years.
Walking down the hall, Hadrian turns to his brother, "No wonder the class is so ostracised. The Headmaster's hiring practices really need to be overruled".
Draco nods, "I wonder if we can talk to Auntie Amelia about getting a new professor". He smirks, "Maybe we can get Mother to teach the class".
Hadrian laughs, "I think Mama's content with her private healing practice".
They finally make it to the History of Magic classroom. They find Crabbe and Goyle already sitting in their seats, obviously towards the back of the room, as well as a couple of Ravenclaws just minding their own business.
They walk over and Draco laughs, "You two are early for class? On purpose?".
Crabbe rolls his eyes, "It was either this or listen to Parkinson rattle on about asking her father for a marriage contract between her and Draco".
His face falls, "Excuse me?".
Hadrian sighs, "Please tell me you're joking".
One of the Ravenclaw boys shakes his head, "Unfortunately not". They all turn to him, "The news has already reached the other houses".
Draco crosses his arms, "We've been here two days, how the hell is that possible?".
Blaise walks into the room, "Apparently, crazy has no limits". He smirks at the twins, "You two should know that better than anyone".
Hadrian smirks back, "If you think we don't have that in us as well, then you're the crazy one here...cognato (brother-in-law)".
Both Draco and Blaise swing at him, Hadrian dodging and laughing as he takes a seat in front of the other boys. Draco and Blaise sit next to him as more students begin to filter into the room. They could tell that everyone was dreading this class already, despite the fact that it was their first class of the year.
The ghost of a shrivelled old man wearing long robes walks in and stands at the front of the room. Hadrian squints as he swears he's seen this man somewhere before. Probably from a book of some kind or from when Severus showed them some faculty photos.
He introduces himself in a monotone voice, "Hello students. My name is Professor Binns and welcome to History of Magic. From goblin wars to witch hunts, we will only cover the facts of what happened in the history of magickind. We do not deal with myths and legends in this class".
Hadrian snorts, "No wonder this class is a joke".
Professor Binns turns to him, "I must say I'm shocked. I assumed that a child of Malfoy and Black blood would know how to speak with respect to authority".
The class falls silent as the students all wait for his reaction. Both the Slytherins and Ravenclaws are already aware of their familial reputation. Draco smirks as he knows his brother is about to end this man.
Hadrian leans on his hands, "My my Professor. You say you're a man of facts and yet you speak in assumptions. I can assure that it's no myth or legend as to how our father raised my brother and I. In our family...respect is earned...not given". He smirks as he leans back, "Besides, I stand by my statement. History books are no indication of the true nature of magickind. They are purely biographies written by the victors. I mean, who would want to hear about one's failures? That certainly wouldn't sell in the long run, would it?".
