Draco pov
We decided to do it, bring James to see his mother I mean.
We didn't necessarily want to, but James wanted to see her and I refused to be remembered as some kind of evil stepmother, or father in this case.
Okay, it's not that I don't want James to see Ginny, it's just that Ginny is Ginny and we all know the kind of trouble she brings along.

Anyway, it was happening today and we'd just brought the kids up to my parents in Scotland. Teddy was staying at home claiming he was sick, he most likely wasn't, but it didn't matter too much right now.
James was excited, which was a huge bonus compared to how Harry and I were feeling about the whole thing. Anxious, we were feeling anxious, but we're two grown men against a convict who is locked up by the best magic in Europe.
That's another thing James was excited about, going to Germany, or just outside out Britain.

Since we were travelling internationally, and the ministry have become stricter about international travel, we had to go to the ministry and hand in some paperwork Harry and I have spent the past three days filling out so that there would be no mistakes.
It was everything from our names to destination and return date. We'd decided that it was in and out, with the exception of an ice cream before returning to Britain tonight.
It was currently 9.30 AM and we had to be at Nurmengard at 11.

"James, time to go!" It was Harry who called out, James came running down the stairs with a suitcase in his arms.

"James, we're coming back here to sleep you know. We're not staying the night in Germany, it's just to visit Mom and then we'll go back." Harry kneeled down to meet James in height, James' smile didn't falter however.

"I know, these are presents for Mom." That however made Harry's smile fade away, we had to make sure that there would be nothing in there of interest to the ministry.

"James, can I have a look?" James nodded and opened the small red suitcase, it was mostly drawings and some statues made in clay. The clay statues were most likely my mother's doing, she had taken a liking to James over time and they do spend quite a lot of time together when my parents visit. Harry seemed to think it was okay, he was the expert after all, and off we were.

We got to the ministry and luckily were seen as priority guests due to Harry's status, we were through in an hour and were given permission to travel to Germany without surveillance.
We arrived at a disclosed centre for wizards in Germany close to the Austrian alps, which hid Nurmengard from the public eye.

We had to walk the last part to the prison, around 2.5 miles through the alps. And while it wasn't the hardest thing to do, we'd still brought a broom for the three of us to avoid James having to be carried around.

We all got onto the broom and flew the short distance to the prison, the history books didn't do this place justice.
I remember seeing it once in a newspaper, back when my father possibly had to be sent here, he paid his way out of it of course. But this place actually looked like something straight out of a horror movie, only thing saving it was the lack of dementors.
James felt it too, I could see it on his face, horror. He was most likely thinking about Ginny and how she was living here, but I couldn't make myself feel bad for her.

Harry was weird about this too, he became quiet as soon as we arrived and hasn't spoken.
I took his hand in mine, it was ice-cold compared to his usual warmness, without the warmth you could feel how rough his hands really were and all the cuts he had all over, some of which I've made...

I squeezed his hand, trying to comfort him, he squeezed it back but didn't look at me.
James too was trying to comfort his father, but Harry didn't take his son's hand.
I caught James' eye and signalled for him to walk by me instead, I took his hand in mine and he smiled as we walked inside the gates.

Harry took the initiative inside, walked right to the guard at the entry and started signing us in.
I took the time to sit down with James, just to ease his nerves, mostly my nerves really.
To my surprise, James was starting to hesitate. The place probably got to him, hell I can't imagine what Harry must be feeling like right now.
Anyway, I got him calmed down and he still wanted to see her, Harry called us over and we were escorted down countless hallways which eventually led to some kind of visiting room.
It felt misplaced, almost like it was built just for us visiting. I doubt this place has had visitors before, most prisoners die here.

There was a table, three chairs around it and a dried-out plant on top. The whole place seemed haunted, I would rather watch Friday the 13th alone in complete darkness again and it would feel more comforting. Were we traumatizing James right now?
Seeing that we would be four people around this table with Ginny included, I asked James if he wanted to sit with Harry, to my surprise he climbed onto me and I gave him a little hug as I felt him relax.

The sound of a metal door on creaking hinges could be heard and out from the corner, accompanied by a guard, was the lovely Ginny.

Aaand I'm back from the dead, hello :)

So, I've begun what's equal to college (i think), and therefore I've been drowning and homework and over the summer I had writer's block...
But I'm here now :)
