They were shocked at the revelation of her grade. Chang smirked again.
"You definitely cheated. Hehehe, that's right McKinley, I think you're a cheater, CHEATER!"
Chang was cackling like a villian.
"I got more copies of that test, I want you to take it again right here, right now!"
The dean barged in with a small packet
"Not so fast! I heard the whole board ordeal from right outside. You're accusing my niece of cheating, you take her board away from her!?"
"I have a zero tolerance for cheating Craig."
Chang seemed like he was busted, caught red handed.
"Here's proof that she didn't cheat. Rose sweetie, may I have your consent to show Senor Chang your file?"
She nodded.
"She was diagnosed with autism at 5 years old but scored an IQ of 159..."
All but Rose and her uncle were shocked again.
"She's not retarded Chang...apparently she's wicked smart," Jeff said.
"Her ACT and SAT score combined was 1550, not only highest in her class but the whole state of Colorado!"
"Holy crap," Troy whispered.
"Holy crap is right," Shirley added.
Chang sighed.
"Miss. McKinley...I have underestimated you, I was aware of your autism but not your true potential. For that, I apologize."
He gave the board back to her. She stood up, held out her hand for him to shake.
"That means she forgives you," Abed said.
They shook hands as a token of respect.
The dean and the group walked out of Chang's office.
"Pelton!"
Jeff caught up with the dean.
"I know you're not the biggest fans of us but can you see that Rosie really trusts us and wants to be a part of the group?"
"I saw that you guys were defending her and helping her get her board back, so, you have my blessing to be friends with her but remember Winger: you break her heart, I'll break your neck."
Jeff saluted, the dean walked away.
"You got quite a protective uncle huh Rosie?"
She smiled, she wrote on her board for the first time all afternoon: "Thank you!" The group smiled.
"It's our pleasure, you're a part of us now, a part of our little community."
"I gotta admit Rose, you're alright," Pierce said proudly.
Jeff was shocked at his baby boomer friend's remark. Rose was humming and smiling, she felt all giddy because of her adventure today. Jeff looked at his watch.
"What time does your aunt pick you up?"
Rose wrote on her board: "4:00."
"She'll be here in less that ten minutes, we gotta get her to the parking lot!"
They sped walked to the parking lot just in time for Shayne to pull up.
"We'll Rose, looks like you're popular already!" She laughed.
"Nice to meet you," they said.
"She had quite a day today Miss. Pelton," Annie said.
"Call me Shayne guys. She did? I'm glad she spent it with all of you, you seem to have chemistry, she had trouble socializing in school, so I really appreciate this."
"No problem Shayne, bye Rosie, we'll see you next week," Jeff said.
"Bye!" They said.
She waved as she got in the car. She sat in the passenger side clutching her board. She noticed her aunt holding back tears. She held her aunt's hand.
"Oh sweetie, I'm fine, I'm happy crying, don't worry. I didn't expect a group of seven students to even go near you, you know. Are they all students?"
"Hmmhmm," Rose nodded.
"Wow, a pretty diverse group, how did you meet them?"
Rose wrote on her board: "Study group for Spanish class."
"Ah I see, they act like friends more than a study group."
Rose wrote on her board: "They're awesome!"
"I'm glad Rosie."
They went home.
