Dean Pelton was on the intercom at the college, the last day before spring break.
"Hello Greendale, ah spring break, a week of parties, out of state vacations, or just staying home. What matters most is that you spend time with family and friends. I wish you the best the next week, make sure you're responsible especially when you go out drinking. Have a wonderful day and a spectacular spring break!"
Rose was in the study room with the group. 101 and 102 had tests today.
"Chang was nice enough to not give us homework over break," Jeff said.
"The high school teachers aren't so nice, they have the nerve to give students homework over all breaks, summer if they want to get fired," Abed said.
"My English teacher wanted us to read a full length novel, like 400 plus pages, then write a report which felt as long as the book," Britta said.
"Let me guess, you didn't do it out of rebelliousness?" Jeff asked.
"I was in fourth grade and trying to enjoy my holiday."
Rose wrote on her board: "Oral reports are the worst, especially when you're nonverbal like me."
"What alternatives did they let you do for the full credit?" Abed asked her.
She wrote: "I just wrote." Pierce joined in.
"Rose is right about oral presentations. I took French as a teenager and that teacher was mean...brutal, his exams were oral-"
"Oral," Troy blurted laughing.
"Lord," Shirley whispered.
"Yes, oral exams, one mistake of any kind and he will humiliate the crap out of us. Teachers in general were that strict in my day."
"You're lucky you weren't alive in the Victorian period. Have you watched Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickelby, The Secret Garden?" Abed asked.
"They're fictional Abed," Jeff said.
"I know, but that doesn't mean children had it easy, historically, especially when dealing with illnesses such as smallpox, cholera, tuberculosis. If you got sick, the chances of survival were like a grain of salt. That explains the majority of postmortem photography being small children."
"Oh those poor old timey babies," Shirley said.
"Let's talk about something more lighthearted. Abed, are you and Rose a couple after the Valentine's Day dance?" Pierce asked.
"I was just making her feel better after what happened with her and Dave, she's one of my best friends, " Abed replied.
"I wanted to give you a big hug after what you did for her," Annie said.
"Yeah that was so sweet of you," Britta said.
Pierce made a noise that startled them
"Ah! I almost forgot to ask you guys. Do you have any big plans for spring break?"
They shrugged.
"Well, I rent a cabin every year for spring break and maybe this year, I could take you guys with me...since we've became more friends than a study group, I thought we could all go on a week long vacation to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee."
"That sounds awesome, I always wanted to go to Dollywood," Troy said.
"Titanic Meusum!" Abed said.
"I actually been there before, I went there for Christmas break with my husband and my boys, y'all go on without me, I'd rather stay home with family," Shirley said.
"That's understandable, family is everything to you people. So, the rest of you, how about it, a vacation in the Smokies, my treat?" Pierce asked.
"Ok," Jeff said.
They all nodded.
"But, there's one thing left to do. Shayne letting Rose go."
