Bismarck Family Home, Erhmich District, Wall Sina, Paradis
(Y/N) POV
It was a difficult past few months, especially with me having to explain to my parents, my wishes to join the military. They were, of course, shocked and a bit angry with me at the start, but as the date approached for me to be sent away, they tried to make the best of it.
My mother and I cooked every meal for the family, with her teaching me every family skill and recipe that she had, which was, to my surprise, quite a bit. I looked through countless books on foods and cooking methods that I never even thought possible. And I had quite the knack for it as if I had years of experience. Still, a lot of the meals I couldn't make just due to the massive food shortages within the walls.
After losing Wall Maria, meat was hard to come by with some fresh vegetables being almost non-existent if you didn't grow them yourself. Even in Wall Sina, the effects of losing a massive amount of territory hurt.
However, my father made things a little better as he taught me to be strong and how to fight. We practiced my sword skills a great deal more. He taught me everything, from strikes to footwork. By our last fight, I had taken him down with us both fighting at our very best. And sure he hit me a few times, but I hit him a few more. It was... a sad moment...
The realization of being stronger than your father is not something to take lightly. He was my role model of strength for my entire life, and now, while he still is my role model... its just not the same.
However, I don't have much time to dwell on the past few months right now. I needed to pack my things up for the Cadet Corps. I heard a knock on my door behind me, looking I saw my mother very somberly walking to my room, stopping a few steps inside while looking at me. "You've grown so much." I could tell she was about to start crying and I went to hug my mother. "I want you to promise me something (Y/N)... please, I need you to live. I want my son to live..." She cried into my chest, and I could feel something in me break.
"I promise Mom, I will come back safe. I'm going to save humanity. And when I get back, I want us to make more of those meals together. Okay?" I told her, fully confident in my abilities. She nodded and let go, wiping her face of her tears. "Ich liebe dich, mein sohn" she said in her families language.
She taught me ever since I was little about her family language, originating from far before the Titans ever appeared. She called it Deutsche. We would use it sometimes to talk in recipe terms when cooking as the older recipes were written in the language.
"Ich liebe dich auch, Mutter" she smiled at me before exiting the room "You best finish getting packed, the carts should be here soon." She then left the room, leaving me to pick a few more items of clothes to place in my bag. I found some things and placed them into my bag before heading downstairs to see my parents one last time.
I entered the front room to see both Mom and Dad standing there, a somber mood was filling the room. "Well, I guess this is it for the next few years." I said, my father nodding "Yes, even though I don't agree with you doing this. I'm still so proud of you my son." He walked up, giving me a strong hug. My mother coming up and joining us. This felt satisfying.
But I knew it had to end.
And shortly after, it did with my father letting go and grabbing onto my shoulder. I knew what he was about to say too...
"Now son, while you're there. Find yourself a nice girl. Okay?" I groaned in response. My father laughed in response. "Honey! Buttttt... if you did find a nice girl while you were gone, I wouldn't complain." She joined in with my father's laugh as I began for the door. "Ugh... you just had to bring it up? Well anyway, I love you both. I promise I will come back one day, and when I do. It will be after the world has been saved." Both my parents looked at me with a proud look as I turned and walked out into the streets of Erhmich District.
