Trost District, Wall Rose, Paradis
3RD POV
Chaos erupted throughout Trost within seconds, as the alarm bells rang, signaling the evacuation. Debris had flown across the district, killing some, and damaging more. The people of Trost were panicking, as they all stampeded to the rear gate into Wall Rose. Leading to a backup of people trying to get through.
The Garrison had planned for this moment. They had organized a crude defense around the hole where the gate used to stand. This bought them enough time to organize the Advance Team. A team of skilled soldiers that would dive outside of the walls in an attempt to keep the Titans from getting into Trost.
These soldiers... were terrified. The looks on their faces, they knew what came of them...
Death.
A slow... painful... death.
They were merely another way to delay the Titans from getting into Trost. And they didn't last long...
(Y/N) POV
I was putting my gear on when the Captain called for all soldiers to head upstairs for a quick briefing.
Captain Kitz... I didn't have a very high opinion of him. He was a coward and sick in the head with the power he was granted. I don't even know how he got into his position without paying a few people off. If his orders were as stupid as he was, then I hold no hope for people surviving this.
We all stood in lines before him. The atmosphere was thick with fear, I could feel it.
I was afraid too, but less for the Titans and more for my friends. The other cadets. How many of them would live through this? Would any of us? My train of thought was interrupted when I felt someone grab my hand. Looking down, I see Christa there.
"Hey. Don't think too hard about this. We need you. I need you. So just focus on working with the team okay?" She pled, worry and fear all across her face. It... wasn't something I liked.
I hugged Christa, "We'll be fine. I'll make sure of it. You focus on yourself and keep safe." She nodded and I let go of her just as Kitz got onto the stage before us.
"Just like in training, split up into your individual squads! You will be under Garrison's command! Your duties are to assist in providing supplies, communications, and sweeping up the titans!" He looked through the crowd of Cadets while saying this. "The first line of defense will be the frontline unit of the Garrison! The second line will be the cadet squads under our command! The rearguard will be the Garrison's elite units!" He then looked to his advisor who was saying something to him. He nodded before looking back to the group.
"I am receiving word that the vanguard has been annihilated! The outer gate was destroyed, and the titans have encroached into the city! This means the Armored Titan might show up at any moment to breach the inner gate!" The crowd exploded in whispers and talks of what that meant.
If Wall Rose fell... humanity wouldn't be able to last any longer.
"Silence! The frontline guards are already in combat! There is but one goal in this defensive operation! You must defend Wall Rose until every civilian has been evacuated!" He then pulled his blade out and pointed it at us. That sure helps with morale... dick...
"Also, in case you forgot, let me remind you that desertion is a capital offense! Vow on your hearts to devote your lives!" With this, he dismissed us to get into our groups. Which... wasn't going well, to say the least.
