TESSA'S LOCKWOOD POV
"Oh, you are so pregnant... the sex was that good, huh?" I laugh as my long-time friend Sophia teases me.
Sophia Anders has been my friend since high school. We did so many things together; she is like family. Although we went separate ways for university, we always FaceTime and talk when we get time. The last time I saw her was at Emily's funeral, and she came as soon as she heard the news. Now, she's here with me; she's an interior designer. When I told her about my pregnancy, she was so excited and told me she needs to come and see me and see it for herself. So she flew all the way from Brazil to New York. I am glad she is here; I miss her so much. Of course, she knows all about my life and everything that is going on. She, however, didn't like my plan of breaking Clyde's heart, but at the end, she knows I am stubborn, so she gave up.
So, we are here having lunch at my house after I picked her up from the airport. I am now 7 months pregnant, and my belly is really huge.
"I know, right?" I answer her. She heaves a sigh and brings her hands to touch my protruding belly.
"So Clyde... still bothering you about the paternity issue?" I shake my head no.
Oh, speaking of Clyde, he stopped bothering me when I was like 5 months. I never saw him. Well, it's what I wanted, for him to stop bothering me, but... I can't believe I am missing him. What? Did I just say that I miss him?
Sophia raises an eyebrow. "Missing Clyde, huh? Life has a funny way of turning the tables, doesn't it?"
I chuckle nervously, shifting in my seat. "Well, things didn't exactly go as planned. I miss him, Sophia. Despite everything, I miss Clyde, and it's driving me insane. He's not just haunting my dreams; he's creeping into my waking thoughts too."
She grins knowingly. "Looks like life has more surprises for you. What are you going to do about it?"
I sigh, feeling the weight of my decisions. "I have no idea, Sophia. But maybe it's time to face the music and figure out what I really want."
"But I warned you, girl. Hmm, you shouldn't have slept with him anyway," Sophia teases.
"That would have been a waste of a good sex. Besides, it's just sex. It was more of fun to me, nothing more."
"Hmm, I see the fun is now turning on your back. I am your best friend, Tessa. I know you more than you know yourself, and no matter how much you are going to deny this, I know you have feelings for Clyde." I glare at her, my eyes popping out. What?
CLYDE'S AGUIRRE POV
It's been months since I last saw Tessa. I've tried to keep myself busy with work and various distractions, but the void she left is palpable. A constant ache that no amount of success or indulgence can fill. The news of her pregnancy hit me hard, and a gnawing uncertainty lingers.
Today, my schedule leads me to a high-profile event, a business gala. As I step into the elegant venue, the air filled with the hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses, I can't shake the feeling that something is missing. The vibrant energy of the crowd contrasts sharply with the dull ache in my chest.
I make my way through the crowd, exchanging pleasantries, but my mind is elsewhere. Suddenly, I spot her – Tessa. She's here, looking radiant with a noticeable baby bump. A surge of emotions washes over me – surprise, longing, and a hint of regret.
Our eyes lock for a brief moment, and it feels like time stands still. There's so much left unsaid between us, so many questions lingering in the air. As the distance between us widens, I can't help but wonder if this encounter will be the catalyst for a new chapter or if it's just a fleeting moment in the story of what could have been.
