CHAPTER TWO: SUDDEN INTEREST
Isobel had lost all hope of ever hearing back from Johnnie and continued searching for suitable models a week after her inital encounter with the two males. As predicted the boy never reached out to her again and even though it stung, Isobel was taught to keep her head up.
Looking at it from a different perspective, she could see that it was incredibly weird of her to approach them like she did, so even if he actually did message her back she doubted that they'd agree to work with her.
Isobel was sitting around the studio she had rented out with Han when she got a call from an unknown number. At first she was confused, wondering why someone would call her from a number unknown to her, when she realized it could potentially be the only stranger she ever gave it to.
"Hi, this is Isobel?", she spoke cautiously, her furrowed brows softening as soon as she heard the voice on the other line.
"Isobel, hi! Fuck, I put the piece of paper with your number on it in my pocket and I just found it again when I put on this jacket. Uh, it's Johnnie, I don't know if you remember", he muttered and the girl immediately jumped out of her seat, surprised that he actually called her back.
"Of course I remember, Johnnie! Thanks for reaching out!", Isobel exclaimed excitedly, catching the attention of Han, who strutted over to her when he noticed her sudden movement and her wide eyes. Until then, the boy was completely engulfed in sketching out one of his ideas in the back of the studio, but the girl's sudden excitement drew his attention away from his sketchbook.
"Yeah sure, sorry I forgot to do it sooner, I uh— I've been busy", he explained sheepishly and from the tone of his voice, Isobel could imagine him scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. She could tell he was genuinely sorry.
"No problem at all, we all are, I'm just glad you got back to me at all, scheduling everything that needs to be planned can be hectic", she tried to explain it simply, realizing that she generally had no idea who she was talking to, she didn't know anything about him basically.
"Tell me about it... so when do you need us? I hope me forgetting to message you didn't throw you behind schedule too much", he questioned and the blonde girl was grateful for that.
Thruthfully, she knew she really wanted the two guys to model her designs and her stubbornness didn't allow for her to just get someone else to do the job. She couldn't really work on anything else in the meantime, but she wasn't going to tell him that. It was risky to put all of her hope into complete strangers, Han had told her multiple times to call someone from the agency he got his models from, but Isobel believed she picked the right people.
The girl didn't want him to feel bad, when he was doing her a huge favor.
"Uh yeah it's fine. So, I'd need you to come to my studio so that I can write down your measurements. The clothes need to fit you perfectly and I'll have to adjust them, but I could also do that at your place if you feel more comfortable there. For the first real fitting I'll need you to come to the studio and when everything's done I'd need you guys for the photoshoot and possibly a little walk for my professors if that's not too much to ask. Again, you guys will be paid for the time spent and I will be eternally grateful", Isobel explained and she could hear a muffled laugh coming from the boy on the other line.
By now Han was stood in front of her expectantly, his arms crossed in front of his chest and a curious expression on his face. He was as surprised as Isobel to hear that the guys she saw at Starbucks actually wanted to do it. His own bad experiences clouding his judgement.
"Sure, but are you sure you want us to do it? Like— have you looked at us for longer than three seconds?", Johnnie replied laughing and Isobel could hear another laugh in the background, she guessed mullet boy was listening in on their conversation.
